Hillary was asked to talk about the pressures of campaigning and choked up. Romney was asked about his dead Dad and choked up. Shedding some tears over your dead Dad seems less likely to make people ask, "Are you fit for the challenges of politics?" Still, I think both were genuine and should be applauded for having emotions.

Romney also misted up on Meet the Press--actually, he bragged about crying too. This was almost indisputably a calculated move made in order to deflect attention from the Mormon Church's formerly racist policies.

his dad actually took a principled stance on the vietnam war, and was destroyed by his unfortunate use of the word "brainwashed" when describing how he had been misled about it. if mitt mists up about that guy, i am NOT going to chap his ass about THAT. everything else....fair game.

Well, but of course. A woman crying is PROOF that we're all hormonal train wrecks. A man crying is proof that he's a Real Man Who Is Not Afraid of His Feelings.

And I just listened to a Chris Matthews "analysis" that Hillary Clinton is a senator because her husband cheated on her and all the women felt bad for her, and we all felt bad for her because she cried and then came out in droves to vote for her.

I'm telling you, I'm thinking of changing my vote to Hillary: the media made me do it.

I think this is one of those massive disconnect moments. Because when I see Clinton get all misty in front of a camera, I don't think, "Oh, she's a hormonal train wreck." I think, "She's either a wimp who can't take the pressure of campaigning -- which I don't believe for a second -- or she's a manipulative political hack." Both interpretations are negative but, since I believe Clinton would insist the emotional moment wasn't staged, I use the first interpretation for discussion purposes.

As much as I hate Romney he wasn't crying about how hard it was for himself.

And as much as I hate Peggy Noonan this actually does make sense:

When George Bush senior cries in public, it's considered moving. Ditto his moist-eyed son. But in fairness, they have tended to appear moved about things apart from themselves, apart from their own predicaments. Mrs. Clinton was weeping about Mrs. Clinton. If a man had uttered Mrs. Clinton's aria--if Mr. Obama had said, "And you know, this is very personal for me . . . as tired as I am . . . against the odds," and gotten choked - they would have laughed him out of town.

Although ECB would never agree since Clinton is her new Jesus.

Mitt had a close loving relationship with his dad - apparently you don�t and didn�t!
Either you were adopted, or had no real dad or from a broken home where you never had a relationship with a real dad or a father figure. OR, it�s likely you are an illegitimate child. What do they call those again?...BASTARDS?
