2008 Oh Yeah, the SOTU
posted by January 28 at 10:50 AM
onRemember that guy who’s still president? He’s giving a big speech tonight at 9 p.m. EST, 6 p.m. PST. He has a few things he wants to say. A few big ideas for his last year in office.
I’ll be here on Slog with our handy new liveblogging widget (which is really, in some ways, more like a portable chat room in which everyone can join the “liveblog”).
So if you’ve ever wanted the whole world to hear you shouting at your television—or if you’d just like someone other than your cat to listen as you tell the deliverer of the SOTU to STFU—join me at 6 p.m. We’ll tell the world together.
See you then.

awesome, thanks for the heads up.
The best part of last night's news coverage of the pending SOTU...a comment that the President's legacy will not be referenced during the speech. HA!
My neighbor's Legacy is parked across the street, with a half-inch of snow covering all the discolored rusty bits. I prefer the Forester model of Subarus, myself.
Along with posting the comments made by Sloggers, can you also try to keep a good play-by-play of the speech? I often read the liveslogging the next morning at work, and I've noticed the last few liveslog logs were primarily reader comments, which is much less happy when not watching the speech in real time.
My plan for the SOTU:
http://www.drinkinggame.us/
First I have to go find more liquor.
Nobody cares anymore.
I'm going to just watch the Daily Show and Tonight Show recaps of it.
I mean, it will just be more lies anyway.
Huh, CNN says 8 EST. But CSPAN agrees with you.
About 3-4 years ago, I stopped these things. Actually, I stopped watching him speak altogether.
I can listen to voice clips, and I can look at photos, but for some reason putting the two together on a teevee gives me some sort of mild stroke.
So...Puerto Vallarta, or not?
From the Washington Post via Wonkette:
"That is the problem Bush faces as he prepares to deliver his seventh and probably final State of the Union address tonight."
"probably final"?!?
Kos alluded to this earlier today @10; the POTUS is Constitutionally required to give "periodic" SOTU addresses, so technically, he COULD give another one before his term runs out.
so where's the liveblog?
I was just going to ask that.
I've got all my stored-up bile and vitriol, and beer.
