2008 Obama on the Air in Washington; Kerry (and Nickels, and Smith) at the UW on Friday
posted by January 31 at 11:25 AM
onHaving raised a record-breaking $32 million this month, the Obama campaign is looking beyond the Feb. 5 states and starting to buy up air time in Feb. 9 states (like ours).
Today the Obama camp announced it will be running this ad in Washington starting tomorrow:
Also, here are the details on the John Kerry event I posted about yesterday. Note that Seattle Mayor Greg Nickels appears now to be an Obama supporter.

I've actually always liked Greg Nickels, unlike John Kerry.
Mayor McCheese would support the Hamburglar if it meant he got a free meal out of the deal.
Hmmm Mayor Lardass likes Obama? Is Obama a huge pimp for developers too?
I too have always liked Greg.
Best of luck to Obama should he be Pres. when he reaches out to the "other side". We'll see how much "change" he really is able to effect. Same goes for Clinton. Real change whether in our self, the home, office, state, or nation causes upheavel. People really don't like change and most wont get involved to make change happen.
(A) $32 million from 224,000 people.
(B) $31.3 million from one person.
Yeah, (A) summarizes the contributions to the Obama campaign in January.
As for (B), well, that refers to the Clinton foundation's nice windfall thanks to Bill's connections in Kazakhstan:
Nice to know that folks are so charitable these days.
Anyone know total fundraising figures for the '08 cycle and also current COH figures?
Obama is the one candidate that is worth going all out for in this election.
Now that Greg Nickels is supporting him, I'm thinking more about Hillary.
I don't want a president who makes health care "affordable for all Americans." I want one who has the backbone to cut out the expensive middlemen -- the insurance industry. Just cut out the millions of unnecessary paper-pushers and thousands of fat cat insurance execs, and --surprise!-- health care costs will go down.
I want a president who has the guts to SAY that. Obama is a nice guy, but he's too wishy washy about challenging the corporate interests. (Big coal, too.)
Ole @9, sounds like the president you want is Dennis Kucinich. He was the only candidate calling for an actual single-payer health-care system that cuts out the middleman.
As for Hillary... Well, her campaign's been raking it in from the health-insurance and pharmaceutical industries.
Obama's campaign has refused to take money from federal lobbyists. Not sure if that's an indication of wishy-washiness vis-a-vis corporate interests.
Here's the real deal-breaker for me:

... Just in time for the California vote, Obama says he's for giving illegals driver's licenses. Why stop there? Why not just promise full citizenship to anybody who promises to vote for him?
I like this ad. It's actually about the issues.
Obama will make an awesome Vice-President. Clinton/Omama 2008!
If by "just in time", you mean "over three months ago", sure. He said as much at the debate on 10-30. It's a public safety issue with the support of police departments though the real answer is comprehensive immigration reform.
Of course, you might not have noticed Barack's answer in the aftermath of Hillary taking several different positions during the debate. (And her campaign taking a few more stances in the days after.)
Ole, are you in CA? I realize that Californians probably weren't tuned in to the rest of the world until now. So, they weren't paying attention to politics. Obama has been consistent and very clear on his position (see #13).
