What amazes me is this; Would it have been possible (however unlikely) that HAD Romney been consistant with his pro-gay stands, pro-choice stands etc. could have he brought the Republican Party to a more reasonable point of moderation?

As much as part of me LOVES the idea of the GOP imploding on itself in the long run it is not a good thing for the Democratic Party. We need to have logical discourse on issues looking at all sides in a reasonable fashion. AND with one party heading to totally freakazoidville the Democrats are already showing a complacancy in congress. Just a thought. Feel free to attack me; you always do.

Actually Cato, I totally agree with you.

BTW, Mass doesn't have the death penalty. They abolished it a long, long time ago. I'm sure if Slick Mitt could have gotten away with wacking someone by executive order, he would have. Fortunately, Masshole governors just don't have that power.

But didn't Iowa abolish the death penalty in 1965?

Enough with the Slick Mitt, already - it's Slick Willard for Chrissakes. Yeah, I know that sounds stupid; that's the general idea.

Well, Massachusetts banned the death penalty years ago long before Romney was governor there. Romney actually tried to reinstitute capital punsihment in MA in 05. So there, Huckabee. Wait a minute, am I DEFENDING Mitt Romney? Ugh, it's time to perform capital punishment on myself...

Slate has a thing on how this whole "story" is just a craven attempt by Huckabee to go negative without appearing to do so:

Dan, do you ever worry that in an effort to give people information, you and the Stranger might inadvertently fall into the marketing ploys of, say, sleezy nutball Baptist preachers? It must be hard to balance some days...

If you can't kill criminals, how can you be trusted to lead a war effort? How do we know that you'll accept moderate civilian casualties for greater stability and the destruction of terrorists? Like we learned in Lethal Weapon, you can't just shoot the bad guys in the knees.
