Super (Duper) Tuesday is exactly one week away. Where are you going to be when the results come in?

How about with us? You know you’ve always wanted to see Ecce Homo and Erica C. Barnett in the same room. You know you’re dying to hear Annie Wagner read from her “independent academic” dissertation, Post-Racial Politics in the Pre-Inaugural Barack Obama Era. You know you want to listen to Josh Feit yell at a flat screen television and maybe watch Dan Savage roll his eyes. Now you can.

The Stranger and friends are hosting a party to watch next Tuesday’s potentially election-defining results at Moe Bar. Details:

Feb. 5

5 pm until whenever a winner gets declared in American Samoa

Drink specials on Blujitos and double price for Red Beers

Plasma TVs

And more!

See you then.

Here's to celebrating victory or drowning our sorrows.

Ecce Homo; you mean Jesus has returned?

Sweet! Sounds fun!

I owe ECB a Manny's.

I thought you guys didn't want to hang with us because we're mean?

Dammit, when is the weather up there going to drive you to a bar in San Diego? Over in Hillcrest or North Park, natch.

I assume there will be a barrier, perhaps a chain-link fence? But no, I don't want to see Ecce Homo, with or without Erica.

Florida just reported that they've had problems with their voting machines again. However, it doesn't matter as far as the Dems are concerned. Hillary won by a HUGE margin. The GOP is another matter.

Where is the overflow crowd heading once Moe fills up?

Posted by Won't get there at 5pm | January 29, 2008 5:30 PM

Yes, but that was the point of fixing the machine results, Tony @7. They want to run against her.

What is "double price?" Like, it was $5, now its $10?

What is "Red Beers?" Red ale? Red stripe? Bud light w/ a red label?

You plug Ecce in a post? Now THAT is SERIOUS feeding of a troll.
Or maybe more like getting water on a gremlin...

do you remember election night 2004? i suppose this will feel better than that, but ultimately, NOTHING ESSENTIAL CHANGES.

Is a Blujito a blueberry-infused Mojito or is it replacing the mint?

I'm tempted to try that.

STFU max. Stop being a downer. It's 355 days and a wakeup!

Does somebody at The Stranger own a stake in Moe Bar? Seems like an awful lot of your events are being held there lately.

Not that it's a bad place, per-se, but just for once could you hold an event someplace with some frickin' FOOD? I've I'm going to get celebratory/despondently drunk, I needs me somethin' to soak some of it up.

Then come along with us to Dick's afterwards.

@10 Beer with tomato juice. Fucking gross.

Sounds like a michelada to me. No thanks.

How come wine is never included in the happy hour?

Posted by Fnarf | January 29, 2008 6:39 PM

Yeah, what Fnarf said. I don't like cocktails, and beer is murder on my figure!

oooooooo. we all get to be in the room with you guys? that sounds, well, my god, that sounds painful! writers of the lefty paper in the upper left corner of the states who are afraid to admit that WE DON'T REALLY HAVE A CHOICE. our democracy is dying before our eyes and you're all too lazy or blinded by journalistic peer pressure to see it. do a fucking story on electronic voting machines, dammit. investigate something. and somebody admit that dems and reps have the same essential problem: they make decisions by rule of $

And cider - hard cider is the drink of us black lesbian Canadians!

How about a champagne fountain? That's always a nice touch, don't you think?

I have one - do you want me to bring it?

Posted by Catalina Vel-DuRay | January 29, 2008 7:02 PM
22

Only if you have some tiny white fairy lights to twine within it -- or am I being tacky?

Posted by Fnarf | January 29, 2008 7:15 PM
23

Catalina, that champagne fountain will be great on November 4 when the Republicans go belly up.

Posted by RainMan | January 29, 2008 7:19 PM

@4 - No, Big Sven, you shouldn't hang with them because some of them are Obama supporters, and thus you'll eventually whine about how mean they are.

Will Bank of America be "representin"?

Posted by Clark | January 29, 2008 7:53 PM

No, I love the tiny white fairy lights.

Big Sven does too.

Posted by Will in Seattle | January 29, 2008 8:00 PM

Well, the center cylinder of the fountain already lights up, but why not? What could go wrong with adding lighting to a fountain?

Maybe I should bring my mannequins too, so it will look like there's more of us.

You know you’ve always wanted to see Ecce Homo and Erica C. Barnett in the same room.

Yeah. That'll happen. Pffffttt!

You know you’re dying to hear Annie Wagner read from her “independent academic” dissertation...

Yeah. Totally. Pffffttt!

The #1 reason to come to the "Slog Happy" part of the night is to meet Original Monique. And AKH. They're both fabulous. Two reasons. Rock.

Well, you got that right, Mr. Poe. Meeting OM and AKH. But not the first parts.

tsm-

I'll be there. With tsm's mom.

Inga's not going to be able to join us as she's staying at home with Li'l Sven and Lena. Babysitters are hard to find on short notice, and my 7 and 10 year old are amazingly uninterested in the Democratic nomination, despite my relentless propogandizing on the subject of the saintliness of the Clintons in general and the righteousness of Hillary's campaign in particular.

Posted by Big Sven | January 29, 2008 8:53 PM

@30 - it's just that they've never known a time without insane Presidents and the country going in the wrong direction. My first memory is from about 3.

Not real quick, are ya Will? It's o.k. with me, don't get me wrong. But I smoke enough pot to warrant all of my nescient-of-sarcasm comments.

I'll be in Germany drinking excellent beer and eating fatty fatty awesome food.

I wish I could be there to see Ecce, but I highly doubt *he/she/it/fake person* will show.

And poor Poe and Will...you guys will just have Amy Kate this time. Hold down the fort Amy Kate! :)

I'll be there on the 14th for sure though, so make sure Annie doesn't trash the bar when Hillary wins more delegates then Obama. Woot.

Real world duties keep me away.

Posted by NapoleonXIV | January 29, 2008 11:38 PM

Oh yeah. I keep forgetting about Germany. Fly safe. (Fly safe = drink excessively.)

Posted by Mr. Poe | January 29, 2008 11:40 PM

@33: Please, I'll be too busy reducing expectations and getting everybody to look up their caucus site on my laptop to do anything so unseemly as trash the bar. Have fun in Germany!

Gee, go and get ignored there too like on Slog. I think I will pass. I have so much grout to clean next Tuesday.

One of these days I will hop on a plane and join you for one of these bashes. Just not this Tuesday - I'll be caucusing. Give Ecce a big wet sloppy one from me.

Sweet. I'm already going to the Kinski show that night, so this will be some nice pre-show entertainment.

It'll probably be all over by the time I get off work on the eastside and head over there, but I'll stop in around 530 and see what's up.

I'm a lot more likely to make it to that than to drag my fiancee to Slog Happy Hour on Valentine's Day.

Anyone who can properly use "nescient of sarcasm" in a sentence without sounding tendentious or prescient has my caucus vote. Is Moe's a name for feminine 'mo's? Anyone? Will?
