Film Lindy West’s Motion Picture Column
posted by January 14 at 14:09 PM
onYou already know that Lindy West now has a weekly column in The Stranger’s film section, yeah? Just checking. It’s been running for four weeks.
Let’s recap!
How the Fancy Film People Party
“Northwest Film Forum director Michael Seiwerath seemed sad that I had chosen the winning nog instead of his Northwest Film Forum signature nog.”
Free Garbage
“An uncharismatic KISS 106.1 intern was giving away ‘prize packs,’ which are literally bags of garbage.”
YouTube on Polio Meds
“After I stopped crying and hyperventilating, my mom gave me some decongestants and an oxycodone left over from her foot surgery. Then, high as a fucking kite, I had nothing left to do but wander through YouTube all day.”
I Hate Le French TV
“So I was in France the other day, which is unusual for me. I am not normally in France.”
What will Lindy’s column be about this week? Crispin Glover? Maybe!
Comments
I just noticed the column last night and was delighted. Her movie reviews are more entertaining than the films themselves. I'm stuck, can you refer to films as "them"? Sorry, Lindy, I wanted to write a compelling endorsement, but now it just looks like an illiterate likes your writing. Will you settle for a sincere endorsement?
Where's her RSS feed?
Lindy is the James Agee of our time, only with more booger jokes. (Put that on a book jacket.)
Lindy is that rare Stranger writer who can be as funny as she wants to be without ever having to resort to the phrase "my vagina."
Of course, elenchos, but that's because she would have said Vajajay, cause she's hip.
Not that Annie's not hip.
@5:
Would I?
I fucking love Lindy West and her awesome reviews. After dealing with the clusterfuck of a '27 Dresses' screening last week, I walked out of it going "Jesus, Lindy West was right about KISS 106.1."
And her 'Golden Compass' review was great. I ended up referring a lot of people to it when asked how the movie was.
what was this talk of buffer seats? lindy, are you a seattle native?
2nd generation! That means I need 2 buffer seats.
@6: No, you certainly would not.
I'm a fan. The review of "Beowulf" was the best I think I've ever read.
