I use it to line my Avian Flu cage.
That's not as bad as the Seattle Weekly's
Green Card scam: buy an ad in their special section and poof you're a Green Company according to the Seattle Weekly.
Nice to see the Stranger's contribution to the community.
During one police sting in November 2006, police arrested 104 men who showed up at a ritzy downtown condo expecting to pay for sex. Nearly three-fourths of the men who were arrested on suspicion of patronizing a prostitute were responding to postings in the "erotic services" category on Craigslist. The rest were responding to escort ads found in the back pages of The Stranger and Seattle Weekly.
I thought it said exotic.
Pacific NW Magazine is not printed on "high-gloss magazine stock".
3: fine, but what's this got to do with the stranger? it's a seattle times employee bitching about the seattle times, not a stranger editorial...
@6 is right.
If you don't like your job...quit.
I used to work in the Seattle Times advertising dept, and the main consensus there is, if you haven't worked there for 20+ years, you are probably one who's desperately trying to get out. Almost every person there is job hunting during their downtime. Not only that, but just after a few weeks of starting my job there there, a guy who worked as a CSR for 10 or so years was finally leaving his job to go travel around Asia. In his bitter e-mail sent to everyone in the office on his last day, he said "get out, reach for the stars, it's never too late to be happy." That's when I knew I wouldn't last at the Times and what do ya know? I quit.
Jesus, you guys. It's an I, Anonymous. Let's not over analyze it, please [lest you be exposed as the idiots you are].
I didn't have the option of quitting at the Times...I worked in Classifieds and at my 5 month mark I hurt my back and was out for a couple days, got a lot of Percocets and came back to work waaaay too soon and when i could tell that my back was on the verge of going out again, told my boss I wouldn't be coming in the next day, she warned me that I was missing too many days and proceeded to tell me a fascinating story about how she came to work when she had a deadly flu, (thus, probably infecting the entire office). Oh, and also wasn't happy I was "on" Percocets at work...My back DID go out again, (largely because I'd gone back to work too soon in the first place) and I didn't go to work the next day and she fired me....it's a lovely company to work for.
it's also printed with monkey blood
as long as you say its green, who cares?
its the american way!
now i'm going to drive my car 300 miles for a day hike so i can "be" in nature!
HA! Now I see why Michael Strangeways is always so quick to fire off smack about the Times: I remember your case and no one supported you. True, they all thought your supe was a doooooosh deluxe - there were a lot of horror stories involving that particular person - but your coworkers thought you were a royal jerk and barely did any work. Good riddance. And now, you're soooo out.
Sorry to interrupt this touching reunion of classified ad salespeople, but is 'Footprint' a stupid idea or what?
11) That's illegal. I'd talk to a lawyer. They owe you some money.
I was hoping it was a magazine about feet.
Someone at the Seattle Times should do one of those death watch style blogs. Everybody at the times would read it and talk about it and there'd be a witch hunt and everything.
Go. Tell 'em Postergirl gave you the idea.
@16
If that was the real story, I'm sure he would have. He seems the type.
Slog-- Feel free to go an entire day without stealing from... I mean linking to any real newspaper.
#16 Tell me about it...the union thought it was horrible as well, but I wasn't there long enough to qualify for any help. This happened a long time ago and it's water under the bridge. It was a shitty job anyway.
#14 Fuck off, get cancer and die, you cowardly pseudonymous douchetard.
Funny; one of the reasons that it was shocking SHE fired me, was that I was getting commendations from her, for the work I was doing. As to people not liking me, the majority of people that worked there BEFORE me, were cliquey, snobby assholes that were not very friendly or inviting to the new people. And if I'm a jerk, well by your own admission I'm a royal jerk which is a hell of a lot better than being a lowly, shit spewing putz like yourself.
oh, and Exposed, you ARE right...I am so OUT of that shithole...since then, I've worked at Amazon and I'm now at Microsoft...hope you're enjoying YOUR shitty job.
Strangeways - tell me, exactly WHO had your back during your entire drama with the Times? The guild did not. They washed their hands of you once you told your story. And whoo-ee, what a story it was. When you got tossed it was finally SOME justification of my biweekly dues being spent in the right direction.
BTW: My job isn't shitty. I own a house in Seattle, two cars, kids are doing great. It's all about choices.
Glad to see you go.
