Comment by Mama's Girl

Last night I actually had trouble sleeping because of the election. This is really not like me but I think I was really just sad about Hillary. Not that it's a done deal that she is over but a lot of people are starting to say stuff like that.

It made me very sad for my mom who is 72, a lifelong Democrat and a big Hillary fan. It made me sad b/c if Hillary does not win then it is pretty unlikley that she will see a woman elected President of the United States in her lifetime.

She raised me to be a strong woman who was able to believe that a woman could be President or anything else she wanted to be.

It hurt me to think that she may not be alive to see this dream come true.

On behalf of my 72 year old mom I made a big contribution to Hillary's campaign today. (I love you mom!)

This is good news:

"According to Scanlan, the ballot strain seems to be on Democratic ballots, which suggests that the undeclared voters are breaking for the Democratic primary. New Hampshire Secretary of State William Gardner predicted that 90,000 undeclared voters would vote in the Democratic primary compared to 60,000 voting in the Republican primary."

If we had just switched to electronic balloting, Sen McCain, the designated Bush heir, would have already won 90 percent of the GOP vote. As well as 80 percent of the Independent voters who had clicked on Sen Obama as their choice.

After all, it's just an easily manipulated number if you use electronic balloting.

I'm not a Hillary supporter, but I agree with the sentiment expressed here. Hillary's likely loss in this campaign is an indication that we have a long way to go as a country before we elect a woman president. Someone more progressive and less establishment would have a harder time of it than she would, which leaves only the possibility of a conservative woman president. But that will never happen because the knuckle-dragging base of the GOP is too misogynistic to vote for a woman even entirely their own.

But, you have to vote for the best candidate, and unfortunately it's not Hillary Clinton this time. It's too bad we can't vote for Hillary O'Edwards.

Nice heart strings tug.

Thankfully the American public is smart enough (just barely), to elect an individual based on their merit to hold the office, and not on some silly emotional argument that they should be in office because they don't have a penis swinging beneath their legs.

There are lots of smart electable women out there. They just don't want to have to go thru all the BS to become Pres...
