It's pretty hard to tell who's crazier. But the Scientologists are definitely pretty whacked.

"We are legion" is a quote from the Bible; specifically, from a man possessed by a multitude of demons.

So, the slogan for the anti-cult group is a reference to a book about magical evil ghosts.

"Fight crazy with crazy" indeed.

Not sure if 4chan /b/ is crazy, but they're definitely usually (a) a bit perverse, and (b) waaaaaaaaaaay too bored.

This likely stems from the latter.

anon's use of 'legion' stems from the movie 300 more than the bible.

Religious people are fine, but for some weird reason *all* religious organizations ("cult" or not) larger than the individual church are agents of suffering and intolerance.

They suppressed the rest of us for 5000 years. Now it's our turn.

@7: Because of course, nobody except religious nutjobs ever quotes or references the Bible. After all, it's not like it's the most influential book in Western literature or anything.

Right on..... Fuck the L. Ronners.

In some writings (I don't know what to call them, autobiographical notes, perhaps?) by Robert Heinlein and Issac Asimov, both who knew Hubbard personally as a sci/fi contemporary, they mention him musing the idea of starting a religion to make a shit ton of money off the suckers back in the late 40's. He launched it a few years later, and look at it now.

Too bad they didn't have some spaceship in a comet they could all kill themselves to get to (in their Nikes, or whatever self-respecting cultists wear these days).
