A lot are also given less than honorable discharges, or are papered out, so I don't think it'll affect everyone discharged for being gay. And Pedersen does have a point.

If they want to be fair, they should go through every reason a person can be "dishonorably discharged" and evaluate them. I'm sure there are more than one reason for being "dishonorably discharged" from the military that a civilian would find asinine (like gay, for instance). Evaluate each application case by case. I heard recently that soldier's with PTSD are being labeled with a personality disorder so they could be discharged less-than-honorably and robbed of medical benefits. The VA has too many disabled vets and wants to lighten the load.
