I often ask myself that.

M?

@ 3 Surely you can’t be serious...

He would charge fans $75+ to see him perform nowadays.

I'm waiting for the WWM-KOD? (What Would Mary-Kate Olsen Do?) bumper sticker.

A few years ago I remember seeing T-shirts for women saying WWMD, as in "What Would Martha (Stewart) Do?" Of course this was before she went to jail...

He'd do me. Duh.

@4: I don't know who "M" is, either . . .

@ 4: I don't know either. Quit being a bitch and just tell us.

Seriously? You don't recognize that picture of Morrissey? Did you not mope along to The Smiths during your sensitive years? What's the world coming to?

@11 we are not all 35 here fnarf, even if i am familiar with some of the smiths songs i am not familiar with the images of the artists themselves, besides my "sensitive years" were 2002-2005

I'm 39 and I've never listened to The Smiths, but Morrissey is the only 'M' I could think of who might correspond to that emo-looking guy on the bumper sticker. Still, I couldn't be sure until Fnarf came along put me out of my ignorance (including the correct spelling); thanks!

What fun. I'm the big three-five. And I like the morrisey.

I'll be 46 in a couple months. Should I be completely and utterly mortified about not knowing who M was either?

No, my sensitive years were spent moping along to Slayer, Megadeth, Metallica, Iron Maiden; well, you get the picture. I wouldn't have been caught dead listening to some fag shit like The Smiths back then.

I'm a little more open minded now, but not enough to recognize a tiny stylized picture of Morrissey.

My "sensitive years" were spent being so fucked up on drugs that I might not have recognized a picture of myself. And what did Morrissey do, other than a couple of catchy tunes, that's worthy of being on a bumper sticker?

Good question 17. What did he do? I know part of the gimmick is that it is a play on WMD, but couldn't someone come up with a better "M" name?

A: He would cry. Then get some beans on toast.

Y'all are on crack. He's the biggest star of the 1980s. The Smiths had thirty iconic tracks at least. Fag shit to be sure, but brilliant in every conceivable way, and his bandmate Johnny Marr ate Slayer and Megadeath for between-meal snacks. Morrissey's solo career has made him one of the biggest draws of our time. A creative giant. Yeah, RainMan, you should be mortified.

sheesh. Ate Slayer & Megadeth (no "a" in "deth") for snacks? That's a bold statement...

Wow. Pretty un-nutritious breakfast. Think I'll just stick with the Jagermeister, if it's all the same to you.

I'm 52, and it looks like early Elvis to me. WWED?

P.S. You kids get off my damn lawn.

@18 It's a play on WWJD, or, What Would Jesus Do, not WMDs.

I'm 27 and I knew who it was immediately! Sheesh, I didn't realize Morrissey was obscure.

@ 24: I took it as both. Maybe I'm over thinking it. If it were only a play on WWJD, I suggest a WWJLD bumpersticker.

Did anyone else think "What Weapons of Mass Destruction"? Or is that just way too 2003?

@4: I am serious, and don't call me Shirley . . .

Happily I'm also now informed. Thanks, Fnarf! And, as for the "sensitive years," I think I was sensitive to being made to take naps at the time the Smiths were in.
