As markets around the world fall: CORONA, Calif. The two small Cessnas crashed at 3:35 p.m. Sunday about a mile from the small Corona Municipal Airport, authorities said. Two people were killed from each plane, and a fifth was killed inside a Chevy dealership hit by wreckage, said Wayne Pollack of the National Transportation Safety Board. "There were bodies falling out of the sky," eyewitness Hector Hernandez told KCBS-TV. "One of them crashed into the top of a Ford Mustang, and another one fell not too far behind that one on the parking lot."...

@2 -- I think Charles is saying that, even after death, the souls of the working class will rain down ruin upon heavy industry (auto, in this case), like so many Angels of the Red Dawn.

After all, I wonder if he'd say, the airplane represents the Icarian ideal of the glorified individual to soar ever higher over others, and the Marxian orgasm of them crashing into one another, and releasing their "individuals" ironically onto a manifestation of capitalism.

It must all make for some sticky fingers over at Mudede Red Square this morning...

@1, Should anyone be interested, here is another link with more information about the picture and Evelyn McHale

@3 Jubilation; Damn, that's impressive, I wish I could write like that. I have never understood any of Mudede's posts, it's nice to see a plausible explanation for one.

But, not to nitpick, "the souls of the working class", I do own an automobile, purchased from an automobile dealer, but at about a quarter million dollars for a Skyhawk, that is a quite a different class than I work in. I have a suspicion that the reason for the post is more about people who can afford quarter million dollar toys.

As a matter of fact, I'm almost willing to bet that those airplanes are owned by either flight schools and/or flying clubs, and used for instruction.

One of your victims is going to be an 18-22 year old kid earning minimum wage as an instructor as he tried to get enough flying hours to be hired by a bottom tier airline.

It's how the system works.
