Yikes. Nothing like starting my morning off with a little tear.
Pension boards suck.
How come we never talk about all the husbands and wives of gay service members who can't retire, can't get medical benefits, can't get death benefits, etc... because their partners would lose their jobs if they come out?
Oh sweet jesus I have cried all over my english muffin.
THAT was a happy way to start the day....NOT!!
I just watched that without sound because I am at work, and it still made me cry. Geez.
My "good morning" bowl of oatmeal needed a little bit of salt. Thank you for causing the tears that met that need.
It seems like a touching and moving film, but my question is why did the makers of this trailer put Camryn Manheim's comments about it? I can understand film critics and newspapers commenting on the nature of the film - but who cares what Camryn Manheim has to say?
I really hope that justice was served for Laurel and Stacie; how anyone can support something so balantly unfair and unjust is beyond me.
Camryn Manheim is just a big fat fag hag. Gotta hate 'em.
This is the answer to the bigot question, "Why do they have to call it marriage?"
Also, can we finally agree that the NJ civil unions law is total bullshit?
this is a documentary short. I doubt it will make it into the theaters. I'd love to see this though. It's unfortunate.
This will haunt me all day.
In case you're curious what happened in this case, here's a link I just found: http://www.nytimes.com/2006/02/20/obituaries/20partner.html
I find it interesting that anyone would ask "why call it marriage?" Like Mike Mo#10 points out, Civil Unions mean nothing, Zero, Nil. Yes the word Marriage is vital. Having all the rights of marriage means nothing if the Law says ONLY marriage matters. They use the word, we have to have it too. Anything other is less.
As a partnered gay man and cancer survivor, I have to say... that freaks me out.
I'm from Point Pleasant, New Jersey.
This gives me hope that maybe if I ever find the right girl, I can go home and build a life with her, and not have to go to Massachusetts.
