Holy shit. Stuck in your car under 30 feet of snow. Now that presents an attractive choice: leave the car running and die of carbon monoxide poisoning, or turn it off and freeze to death.

I remember a story about a guy who was trapped in his car under an avalanche. He attracted attention by gutting the seats for metal rods and poking them up through the snow.

@6: You wouldn't freeze to death, even with the engine off -- snow is an excellent insulator. (In this situation your car has essentially become a snow cave.) The biggest danger would be suffocation due to the carbon dioxide you exhale. Fortunately, being big, metal objects, cars are much easier to find under the snow than, say, snowboarders.
