Assignment:South Africa

onHello Seattle. I’m far far away from you now, writing from an overly air-conditioned hotel lobby in sunny (and dangerous) South Africa, where I am continuing to intern on your behalf.
I’ve started blogging about being a white liberal homo here. Read, react… I’ll be back in your arms mid-March.
Love, Steven

Have fun! Check out the surfing scene, ok?
Yay! Have a safe and happy trip, Public Intern. Glad to know you'll be back with us.
Where exactly are you? I've always heard that Cape Town was gay central and read an article in The Economist about how they deployed their police to the main cruising park there to protect cruisers from bashers.
watch out for sharks...and jellyfish...and CHUDs...they have CHUDs in South Africa, don't they?
Good to hear from you, Steven. Are you getting a chance to check out Capetown? Take care.
funny, cause they're blogging about the exact same thing here.
Ugh... why must you use the word "colored" so often on your blog? Is there a post somewhere that explains this..? (I'd like to think that you've adapted the preferred South African nomenclature, instead of the alternative- which is to say you're an unabashed racist.)
@7 "Coloured" is an official racial category in South Africa, meaning mixed race. Since there are quotas based on race, and discrimination against coloured people in South Africa, by both full black and full white South Africans, the term is relevant, and he's using it correctly.
I'm much more concerned about his running back into the closet.
As usual, a very interesting and well written account from Mr Blum; highly recommended.
your blog is awesome. love to hear about your travels.
Wait... Public Intern loves the cock? When did this come to light? Hearts are breaking across the Northwest!
