cept it suggests a neighborhood cohesion which isn't there...they start at madison which is still cap hill-ish and end around yesler which is straight up CD.

That looks like the banner to a pre-school.

12th was very cool. Those banners are truly awful and make it look like some sort of corporate theme park. Dumb.

If one must have banners, how about just 12th Avenue and a nice design and no slogan.

this reminds me of a banner campaign that went up in buffalo when i lived there. all along elmwood avenue, the banners read "forever elmwood." street-themed banners are always funny.

Well, it was Squire Park long before "the CD" was in existence, so I'd have to dispute that assertion @24 (disclosure: I too live in SP).

And speaking of Hypnotoad - ALL HAIL HYPNOTOAD! - I wonder how many people actually watch the entire 22 minute ep on the "Futurama" DVD?

And apparently Gomez hasn't been on 12th for a while, or he'd know there are now LOTS of places to "hang out" from Cafe Presse & Stumptown at the North end, all the way down to Saba at the South end.

Uh yes, there are 3 schools within 3 blocks of each other: Seattle University, Seattle Academy and The Photographic Center Northwest. And there's a daycare if you are still interested in fingerpaints and napping.

And it was called Squire Park WAY back. I don't remember seeing any of you at the community council meetings when the banners were being discussed and decided upon... back in 2003/4.
