Worship Band Watch

posted by on December 18 at 13:32 PM

A member of the Northwest Church in Shoreline is in trouble with the law. Back in July of this year church officials learned that Jeremy Lee Jones, a 21 year-old member of Northwest Church’s “worship band,” was exchanging dirty emails, videos, and photos with a 14 year-old member of the congregation. From the filing by the King County Prosecutor’s Office:

[The victim] first met Jeremy Jones through the church, specifically they were in the church worship band…. At first Jeremy would ask [the victim] to send him a picture of her wearing her bra. Then he would ask to show him more. She eventually started taking topless pictures of herself and then fully nude photographs. Jeremy did not ask her to pose in a certain way but he told her to “be creative” Jeremy also asked her to take a video of herself masturbating, but she told him no. [The victim] did send a video of herself stripping. [The victim] estimated that she sent Jeremy at least 100 pictures in some state of undress, and that this started when she was in the 8th or 9th grade…. [The victim] said that Jeremy also sent naked pictures of himself, showing his erect penis and buttocks.

Church officials reported Jones to the police, the police investigated, and Jones was arrested on December 4, 2007, and charged with the sexual exploitation of a minor.

Tisk. Should have hit up one of those hot over-18 church-goin' girls instead, huh buddy?

I remember being naive enough to be shocked by reports that the members of Stryper partied with groupies. Nothing surprises me anymore.

Did the church take 6 months to report it? Or did the police take 6 months to investigate before making an arrest?

Christians get boners?

They surely do, Mr. Poe. How do you think all those Catholic high school girls get pregnant? It can't always be the Holy Spirit, can it?

@1:

the ones over 18
1. don't go to church anymore.
2. are married.

Regardless of how long it took, at least the church DID report it to the police, which is a damned sight more than Dan's beloved Catholic Church ever did.

Maybe I will start going to church.

@ 9, Dan loves the Catholic Church?

@6:

don't forget to add
3. Have so thoroughly repressed their sexuality in order to live up to some misguided notion of "purity" that it would be easier to turn back the tides than get them to send you dirty pictures.

The church reported it to the police right away, and they investigated right away. It took a few months, apparently, to dig through Jones' computer. Then he was arrested.

@11 unfortunately true. and was this stuff happening at my church? i'm dying to know...

Whatever, guys. I'm just glad that my church is way more sexually permissive than the ones that have all this bullshit in the news.

This seems to be the modern version of show and tell

And lots of sexual juices flowing from both of them - how very natural

Too bad it is a police matter - the guy needs an age of consent lesson

Other than that, ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

By the way, many of the modern generation ARE sexually active at 14 -15-16, seems Mother Nature always wins, beating out cops and churches.

I am quite interested in the pix of him, we are BOTH of age and I love to orgasm on camera, how do I get his site?

And, yes, Christian boner at Christmas sounds like fun

Oh man, a perverted musician? Shocking!
Here I thought all musicians were upright, moral, logical sorts who only got turned on by musical notes.

Every guy I've ever met who was in a worship band, apart from my father, struck me as ineffably creepy. It is worth noting that fourteen year olds WILL go after those dirty musicians every time... there's nothing more appealing than a guy who plays guitar and loves Jesus so much that he'll tell you you're causing him to stumble in his Walk by showing him the dirty photos he asked for.

well, these days, with a 21 and 14 the 21 should know better. a 20 and 17, not so big a deal.

@25 funny... sort of. not funny ha ha. i mean, that story sounds like it might be based on actual events. which is sad.

@25 That
is so true!

Give an ugly guy a guitar and put him up in front singing and you will have all the girls drooling after him, especially fourteen year old girls.

What the guy did was raunchy and I'm glad he was caught but the whole thing does not surprise me.

What they should have done is let the church handle it.
They could have made the girl wear a symbol around her neck SS, Stupid Slut and the guy should have worn a symbol CM, child molester around his neck.
That would have taught them both a lesson!!

above was a joke...
Too many allergy pills and Baileys in coffee not a good mix.
I don't think the fourteen year old is a slut!!!

We should ban all ages shows too.

I mean, can you imagine if the Vera Project catches a guitarist corrupting some poor young girl in the audience and the calls the cops on him right away? They'd be as guilty as this awful church.

Christians are all child molestors and perverts.

Judaism simply prevents it's followers from ever sending filthy mail to 14 years olds. This is because Judaism is a religion of righteousness. Christianity creates perverts.

I used to go to this church... you know, back in my darker times. I think, but am not positive, that this kid is the recently departed long time big-shot pastor's son. You Stranger media types should have a way to find this out. I'm surprised such a potentially tasty morsel was left out.

Dan, serious question:

Does The Stranger - Seattle's only _newspaper_, I think I read somewhere - claim to be unbiased/objective in its reporting of Christianity, or are you guys very clear (and if so, where?) about your opposition to the faith?

I'm being serious, here. Because I enjoy reading The Stranger/Slog for its reporting on events and issues important to Seattle, but the repeated anti-Christian/religion/church posts really seem to point toward a very strong bias on that topic.

I'm not saying you can't report the bad things that Christians do. But what about good things? Or do you get so much joy out of taking shots at the church that you choose to focus only on the bad things and pass over the good things?

I'm truly curious about this. Because in my book, a newspaper's credibility is only as good as its ability to report on important, "big picture" issues in an objective, unbiased way. And like it or not, religion is a big part of life in Seattle or anywhere else. And I have a hard time seeing objectivity in The Stranger's religion reporting.

And if objectivity is *not* The Stranger's goal, that's fine with me - I just want to know that that's the way it is so I can assign the appropriate amount of credibility to your publication.

The Stranger is seriously anti-Christian and pro-Jewish. What's so difficult to grasp about that. Most of The Stranger's writers are practicing Jews.

The other Seattle papers are penned by idiot racist Christian sex perverts. If you want to read about Christianity pick up the Times or P-I.

If you want to clue into the real world and hear true righteousness and truth, better stick to The Stranger. Seattle would be a hickville shithole without The Stranger. Mazel Tov!
