The Stranger Suggests
Film
'Juno'
A sweet and surprisingly clean comedy about the pitfalls of teen pregnancy, Juno is so smart and cleverly written that it risks being too cute for its own good. Thankfully, the performances—especially from the startling Ellen Page and the always welcome Michael Cera—rescue the movie from its own self-conscious trappings. The result is perhaps the best comedy of the year: cynical yet heartfelt, funny yet kinked by a hint of sadness. (See movie times at www.thestranger.com for details.)

Yeah man, that's kind of how MOST of America felt at the time of the war. YOU CAN THANK OUR GREEDY, LYING ADMINISTRATION FOR THAT.
The fact is we were being fed propaganda and misinformation in order to violently secure our oil interests.
Fuck off. You wanna do something about it stop your god damn whining and do something useful to get our country off its addiction to foreign oil.
AS FOR JUNO IT WAS FUCKING FANTASTIC.
i'd highly recommend it. very fulfilling film and a joy to watch.
Roger Ebert named Juno his #1 film for 2007. He doesn't like top 10 lists so he doesn't take them too seriously, but I think a film is worth seeing if he puts it at #1. (yeah, I know, critics suck, Ebert's gone soft, blahblahblah, save your righteous fury for something else.)
Just saw it last night and laughed my ass off. It's everything this review says, and every performance in the movie is spot-on. Jennifer Garner is a surprise treat.
Can the Slog filter comments that say "SAY YES TO WAR" and "DAN SAVAGE" in them? I'm getting tired of reading those.
Agreeance, I'm tired of the spam.
I would see Juno just for George Michael from Arrested Development, but it looks like a really good movie to boot.
Here's a question I'm having trouble finding an answer to: Is Juno okay to watch if you're pregnant? My wife and I really want to see the film, but our first kid is due in January and honestly don't want to get to the end and find out that mother or kid dies at the end, or something equally traumatic.
I'm not looking for spoilers. Just a "yes it's great" or "wait until you have your kid before seeing it".
@7: Yup, very parent-to-be safe. Harder on would-be-hipster fathers, though. Can you take it?
put it this way: i saw juno twice and i'm gonna pay to see it again.
and i'm BROKE.
Thanks Annie. I think I can handle the hipster-to-be-ness. I couldn't pull it off even when it was hip to do so anyway. :-)
