If this is true, it seems like a big deal.... My feeling about Huckabee is that he isn't any more electable than Romney. On the spectrum of evangelicals, he's just too extreme. The thing about Reagan, Carter, and even GW, is that even if they are evangelicals and perhaps believe some fairly crazy stuff, they are basically moderate evangelicals. Huckabee just seems too nutty to appeal to moderates. Giuliani is the only Republican who scares me.

Huckabee is much less electable than Romney. Much, much, much less. An excellent choice for the Rs.

All that proves is that Huckabee is for the little people. He’s down. He can relate with us common folks. By registering at Target he shows he’s willing to shop at the same stores as his voters. He is not a snob. He knows a good value when he sees one. I applaud him for making it easy for us to buy him gifts that are easily accessible and affordable. When he and his wife registered they clearly did so which us in mind. See, he’s not even PotUS yet and he already shows how he includes all of American – not just the rich and the white.

Naturally, Matt Taibbi got there first. Check out his recent write up of Huckabee, "Mike Huckabee Is Not a Sane Man."

As much as i hate Mike Huckabee i also believe that it would be the best thing for the dems if he were to win the primary, no way in hell he would get elected and we would win!

I agree. Gail Collins belongs in NYT like few do, present company excepted.

That's it, I'm starting a wedding registry at Target, regardless of the fact that we've been married four years. Gift cards welcome!

While I'd like to think that Huckabee is too extreme for America, I just don't trust him. He's this cuddly fucking Republican, and he's all nice and "look at me, I'm a minister! You trust ministers!", but he's a total scumbag still. And lest we forget, America's elected (twice!) an on-the-surface cuddly Republican good ol' boy who is also a total scumbag.

I never understimate the stupidity of white folks who love NASCAR.

R truth is always way worse the lies about D's.

The right wing spread a vicious set of lies about the Clintons stealing White House stuff when leaving.

The D's seem to have no attack wing. This Target stuff about Huckabee is out there and nothing is said. I guess we're "above" all that....."above" actually winning.

It's like Kerry and Edwards not deigning to respond to the attacks he was a coward and a traitor.

It's smart politics to save this sort of ammunition for the general -- let the Republicans roll around in this mud together during the primary if they'd like. Whether the Dems will unsheathe the daggers when the time comes remains to be seen, of course.

@8: the Ds have an attack wing, they just don't understand how to turn it off of each other and onto the Rs. The Clinton campaign is getting absolutely nowhere with me right now, courtesy of the Muslim/drug use stories they're "not" circulating.

while this was happening (the target stuff). It was said in our local media that while this is distasteful it is not illegal.

Also the fucker who gave him the clothing is Jennings Osbourne. A rich douchbag with a year round christmas light display of an eagle, 50 high american flag with the words GOD BLESS AMERICAN AND GEORGE W BUSH above it. this is in his front yard on a busy street here in Little Rock

Someone should take a harder look at the way Mike Huckabee has performed as a FATHER. If he can't lead his children down the path of righteousness, how can he lead our country back to Jesus?

Do some searches on David Huckabee and John Mark Huckabee. It was David, I think, who was arrested for trying to take his loaded Glock onto an airline flight, and who was arrested for slitting a dog's throat.

Nice boy.

@14: hey, he's just asserting his god-given rights to carry a gun anywhere and dominion over all the beasts, you know? Unfortunately, people don't seem to give a shit about animal cruelty unless it's perpetuated by a black guy. There was that story about Romney's dog in the carrier on top of the car, which was told BY HIS SON, and it went nowhere.

God, I hate Republicans.

Dan,
Smart career move to butter up those NYT ed board members.

If Josh can't get on the P-I, you might have a shot at a job in NY. So strap on those kneepads, Dan! Yes, Gail is just wunnerful!
