They're fine.

no, if they are alive & near crystal they'd have used their cells to call 911.

but they haven't.

they're likely dead in an avalanche & their bodies will remain lost until the spring thaw.

read the weather forecast before you head out into the mountains at 11pm at night. the mountains in winter aren't the fucking kiddie pool.

White folks with money went missingwhile snowboarding? That is the greatest tragedy of the past week, maybe month.

Pretty heartless @3. Some of my friends are white and snowboard.

Besides, no one has any money anymore...

max @2
Cell coverage up there is spotty at best but I agree, those guys are very likely gone.

Rule #1: Stay put.
It doesn't do you any good if the searchers find your camp AFTER you leave it.

Does this mean they're homeless?

(caveat - boarders roo1)

Yeah, we all know those bike messengers are loaded -- rolling in dough, the bastards.

Fuck off, @3.

And THANK YOUR Dan. For putting the Fuck Off just where it needed to go. Messengers make just about enough money to snowboard in the woods, where you don't have to pay for passes.

On Friday, the weather predictions for the passes sounded good (new snow expected - areas open for skiing/boarding). All those warnings about avalanches and dangerous conditions came after they left. That's the scary part: they were prepared, familiar with the area, and headed for shelter and some great snowboarding, just like everyone who hits up the back-country.

May Bicycle Jesus bring those boys home. And soon, cause it's cold up there and we're worried down here.

Per the Seattle times: "Rescue crews plan to search one more day for three Seattle-area men who disappeared last weekend during a snowboarding trip near Crystal Mountain.

"At this point they have not made themselves visible to us. We haven't found a piece of clothing, snowboard or equipment," said Ed Troyer, spokesman for the Pierce County Sheriff's Office. "There is a strong probability they are under the snow."

Troyer said the search would resume this morning. If they do not find the snowboarders, the search will be called off at nightfall, he said."

Tomorrow at dusk, rescue crews give up. Fuck.
