I LOVED this article when I skimmed it this morning with breakfast. I mean, these people like to find a spiritual place and then rip into the Earth to build a 2nd home. Later there's a photo of the man and his son watching TV with their backs to a statue of some guru. So perfect.

Hard, but NOT impossible!

I love how it describes how they found this wonderful place with its "spiritual qualities", recognized by the Indians -- they don't mention any particular kind of Indians, but all Indians are spiritual, like, right? -- and then DESTROYED the place by building a fucking house on it.

Because the prime focus of higher consciousness is ME, ME, ME, right?

These people should be dragged behind cars.

Sedona is beautiful. I drove through there last summer. I decided to take a drive all by my lonesome over a mountain pass from Prescott to Flagstaff and you have to go through Sedona.
In the middle of nowhere they announced on the radio that anybody driving needed to find refuge immediately because a monsoon was going to hit.
It scared me to death but I was all alone on a mountain road and refused to pull over because all I could think about was some serial killer finding me there alone on the side of the road.

Many people acquire second homes to seek out sun, surf or snow. But for those like the Birrittellas, a second home is for seeking out the soul.

Really, who can afford a second house these days, when most people can barely find the money for one, if that? Your late-term 'Buddhist' awakening isn't going to save you from the legacy of your acquisitiveness. It's called karma, bitches.

It is justifying materialism that these people say they really do not need because they are enlightened and happy no matter where they are.
