This is politics. Willy Horton ads were attacks. By picking on the term "fun", Obama comes off as having no sense of humor or politics. People like it when politicians mix it up a little. Everyone who was watching remembers Bentsons' "you're no john kennedy" response. A better strategy would be to respond to the points, point out HRC's own credibility problems and then to suggest that "she's worried because the race is close".
