Jen, do you get paid by the blog foot? Howzabout using that nifty "after the jump" bit that many bloggers do?
Your point is, however, spot on. Lazy journalism strikes again. Nambam, indeed...hmmmph!
or you can join at the Patron level ($50) and get free tix to the show openings and it's tax deductible ....
I went to SAM on Dec. 1. On the flat-screen displays above the ticket windows, the museum entry prices were not labeled as being a suggested donation. Nowhere in the admissions desk area did I see any indication that museum entry is still by donation. It really looked as though it was an admission price. I wonder if the policy has changed. It's also possible I was snow-blind that day. It was snowing in Seattle.
Great post. You're right on about the show, which is superb. Seattle's fortunate to have your criticism.
"Moonan also writes as if she didn’t see the show"
Didn't you just write a post about Miami? And you weren't there were you, Jen?

Oh, Wendy probably had "Rambam" on her mind, back there in NYC... a li'l Freudian thing... but this has gotta be a good show, anytime an artist has a "kazu" in his name (& revues rock w/ "engrave" embedded). I ♥ the Dough nations... chow ^..^
The NY Times hasn't ever been very good about what it includes in the Art section regardless of the content; which is sad, given the amount of material they could cover. The closure of DIA:Chelsea? Not a single quip.
Also, while I agree that SAM should adopt the blanket suggested price policy, the Met is considerably better funded than SAM and can probably afford the losses. We have a shiny new building to pay for, you see and they probably aren't willing to cut their losses. Sad, but probably true. $20 a pop isn't exactly working towards making art accessible, is it?
Pots and Kettles: Don't be obtuse. You know I didn't go to Miami because I've written over and over again about *not* going to Miami. If you read this NYT story, you can't be sure whether the writer was here or not.
