Not sure if they're being literal or not w/the 'vampire' reference (lotta gamer-goth's do actually tend to work nights, true to form), but yeah - nightshift work in this city kind of bites (no pun intended). I worked nights a few years (wrecked my sleeping patterns and general health as a result) and found that the only places to really go were Minnies (blah), The Hurrican (blech!), and the 5pt (ok). The places that really were favored were those that served just after 6am. Toward the end, a few hotel bars were hip to serving, but again, you're kind of chased out by the 'brunching tourists'. I guess everyone who works nights somehow thinks it'll be all Edward Hopper Diners with few patrons, cheap prices and endless time to read and write your great novel while the world sleeps. Doesn't quite work that way.
Even St. Paul, MN has us beat on the late night eats. Man, I miss Mickey's Dining Car.
I like Mike Lewis. Personable guy and he doesn't smell terrible. Oh, and the writing's good, too.
when i was working nights i was part zombie, don't know if that helps
I too work night shift (including tonight, blech!) and I have noticed my canine teeth getting longer and i want to bite people's necks more than i used to before i went to night shift. also, the bus service is totally useless at night getting to work.
I'll miss Minnies....having gone there on each of my visits to the fair city
Mr. Poe is a vampire.
Minnies blows.
I too work nights. CC Attle used to be nice to go to in the AM for steak and booze, even if I did get funny looks for being straight. It's not what it used to be though.
