Oh, that's what DV One did.

So...he hit a cop. Might have headlined this "Man Guilty of Hitting Cop, Gets Light Sentence" instead of playing up race, and excluding from the write up the facts that he hit a cop and the jury found that and found he lied about it.

Yup, you can't hit anyone -- cop or not.
The verdict and sentence makes sense.
(On tasering: nothing stops DV One from suing. Maybe it was unnecessary force. If a jury agrees, he'll get $. Go for it.)

It's still debatable whether DV One hit anyone. The cops say yes, witnesses say no. There's also the issue of excessive force and whether the police should have been hassling DV One's daughter in the first place.

Why get your picture taken with plain old Santa when you can have your picture taken with Elvis instead? It's for kids (Pop Tots is a kids store), but anyone can come and bring their pet or just get a picture of themselves and the King. Bring your own camera, there'll be cupcakes from Cupcake Royale. There's a cool tatoo parlor next door if you want to hit it first. Pop Tots, 6405 Roosevelt Ave., Ravenna, 206-522-4322, www.poptots.net.

No, it's nopt debatabel; whether he hit a cop, the jury is the way we settle this and they said yup, he hit a cop.

"There's also the issue of excessive force" -- hey, yes, I don't trust any internal police review. But if DV ONE believes this he can go sue the cops.

"and whether the police should have been hassling DV One's daughter in the first place."
Does not justify hitting.

Hitting is illegal and should be whether it's you or me or a cop who is hit and saying "someone was hassling my relative" does not give anyone permission to hit someone.

The LA Times article you refer to about the Gates Foundation is nothing more than a fucking load of shit. The Gates foundation is being blamed for the health care shortcomings of fucked up third world hellholes such as Lesotho. Meanwhile of course the writer of the article completely neglects to ask the question about what the fuck the governments of these countries are doing about their health problems, instead creating a sort of white man's burden and laying all of the ills of these third world health care systems at the feet of the Gates foundation. This isn't journalism, it's a cheap smear as bad as anything you'd find in the Washington Times or on NewsMax.com
