The Middle East is a bunch of backward thinking barbarians. I have no pitty for them at all and I hope they keep rioting and killing themselves off. Frankly, I am sick of the entire region. Maybe they will turn away from the falacy of religon and embrace reason once they kill enough people.

I'm a limp-wristed liberal and even I believe those 2 Carnation fucks should get death.

Whoa. This PI story about the I-5 shooting makes it sound as if the guy who got shot was the same guy that the Stranger reporter talked to about his mom being found dead in a guy's bathtub:

Musharraf is smart to blame the assassination on al-Qaida & the Taliban. May be true, but you have to wonder. It's probably the best way to ensure our government's blind support of his administration.

Re:

Carnation klutzy killers:

If the death penalty is sought these two will run up $5 million in taxpayer funded bills for defense lawyers and psych experts and prosecutor time.

It will take 15 years of appeals to finally kill them (including appeals about the confession).

The people to be deterred from homicide -- if these two are any example -- are impulsive idiots incapable of planning thus incapable of being deterred.

(They didn't realize maybe someone would come over for Xmas dinner? They thought they wouldn't get caught, being related and living 200 feet away? They went to scene of crime while cops were there?)

Oh, they deserve death and if you need retribution it's the only way.
But the whole death penalty industry is a bloated government program that costs us more than it gets us.

Government should work.

@4
You're exactly right, the guy who threatened drivers on I-5 and was subsequently shot by police IS the son of the woman who died in the bathtub that Jonah wrote about. Wonder how Jonah feels about all that.

@4 You're right. Now wonder the guy went nuts. Before we knew his mother as the dead hooker on ice in some dude's bathtub she was the lady who "...was arrested for kidnapping a disabled man. The man was a passenger strapped in a wheelchair inside a parked van that Buchert allegedly stole near Pike Place Market..."

Some people were just destined for newsworthiness.

I'm going to assume that David Bowie video was posted just for me, because I love him, and it's my birthday. Thanks!

One addition to the morning news, someone jumped from the Aurora Bridge last night, right onto 34th. The body, under a yellow tarp, lay in the street for at least an hour, roped off, as the one cop left to watch it waited for a cleanup crew.

Right on Irena. It's also Dame Maggie Smith's b-day.

yeah, Life On Mars brings back the memory of my klutzy attempt at buying souveniers. When in Hungary befoire the Wall came down, I picked up a Finnish LP for a singing oldman relative. It was that irish 10 singers group, The Kingsman or some name like that. They did a version of Life on Mars(ipan-hehehe). I don't think the record ever got played by him or anyone in his family, though I gave it a spin a few times when back in the USSA
