One San Francisco Zoo visitor was killed and two others injured early this evening after a tiger escaped from its cage. The tiger that got loose was fatally shot while it was attacking a patron, said San Francisco Fire Department spokesman Lt. Ken Smith. The attack happened shortly after the zoo's 5 p.m. closing time at a cafe on the east end of the zoo, officials said. The tiger cages are located near the center of the zoo. Tigers should be boiled alive and fed to their idiot zookeepers.... The zoo closed its doors to new visitors at 5, but the grounds don't close until 6 for visitors that are already inside.

Also, the tiger escaped an outdoor enclosure, not a cage (but maybe someone created a bridge over the dry moat that tiger used - so foul play is not out of the question).

This is going to be one of those stories that I obsess over until all the details become public.

there's usually a link: the people who are most critical of zoos have the least connection with nature...actually understand biology (ecology/evolution) and the conservation problems for these species.
