Of course, the last time I had Jell-O 1-2-3 I was probably seven-years-old and easily impressed by almost anything scientific (including baking soda and vinegar) but do you remember this? The one-mix Jell-O that magically turned into three different layers?
Mmmmm.... Strawberry flavored protein produced by the partial hydrolysis of collagen extracted from the bones and connective tissues of animals such as domesticated cattle, and horses!

This is a clone of the old Jello 1-2-3 recipe. Three layers are made as the Jello cools in the refrigerator.
3/4 cup boiling water
1 package (4-serving size) Jell-o brand gelatin -- any flavor
1/2 cup cold water
ice cubes
1/2 cup Cool Whip Non-Dairy Whipped Topping -- thawed
Pour boiling water into blender. Add gelatin. Cover and blend at low speed until gelatin is completely dissolved, about 30 seconds.
Combine cold water and ice cubes to make 1-1/4 cups. Add to gelatin and stir until ice is partially melted.
Then add whipped topping; blend at high speed for 30 seconds.
Pour into dessert glasses.
Chill about 30 minutes. Dessert layers as it chills. Garnish as desired.
There was a desert just like this I saw (and purchased) earlier this year...it wasn't Jell-O brand, and I can't think of what brand it was. I'm on the East coast now (this was purchased in Princeton), and it was a brand I'd never seen before (having been born & raised in OK), so it may just be a regional, NE thing. However, it does exist! And it tasted just like Jell-O 1-2-3. And just as good as I'd remembered from when I was a kid.

Bronkitis is correct. Pudding Pops rule! They used to be even better when they were much larger. Vanilla is, of course, the best of the (I think) three flavors available, followed by chocolate-vanilla swirl, and then chocolate. But the best of all was BANANA, long discontinued.
Fnarf, you're wonderful. I totally forgot about the whole tip-the-glass-at-an-angle thing. Mom always just did it level. I thought I was being incredibly creative when I tipped it at an angle. Such an artiste!
I liked the green flavor. I liked everything green in the 1970s.
Anyone remember that Jello had another SciFi dessert product out during the same era - Spoon Candy, a multilayered pudding-type-of-thing that would magically separate from brown sludge into a layer of pudding-like product, whipped parfait-ishness, *and* a hard chocolate top shell? This vanished same time as 123.
Yes, Jello 123, a delicacy of sorts in my midwestern home as a youth. I wolfed down everything else my mom set before me, but this...this confection...I took my time with, scraping oh so carefully with my spoon until, one half hour tv show later, I arrived at the bottom of the brown glass vessel, satisfied.

They probably discovered that whatever it was that caused the striations causes cancer...
MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!
Oh hell yes.
If you were REALLY classy you'd store the glasses in the fridge at an angle while it set.
This product was pretty much the main reason to go over to Grandma's house.
I wish I had some. My kingdom for artificially-flavored strawberry foam-jello.

I liked the chocolate version - with the light, medium, and dark layers ...

#4 You are soooo cute!!
Have you been watching that brainiac goof sitcom after "How I met your mother?"
@4:
Precisely!
I had this (tipped to the side in the fridge, fnarf) with "whipped topping" on top for an early birthday party...
@4: If you're trying to gross us out, many of us don't care. I eat tripe, I eat brains, I eat feet. Gelatin is filet mignon in comparison.
Ok, I still won't eat eyes.
1-2-3 is second to the magical confection known as the Jell-o pudding pop, Cosby endorsement or no. What creaminess!

I miss the Pudding Pops too! Those were da bomb!

Ah, pudding pops. My husband and I still reminisce about those on a semi-regular basis. Vanilla was awesome!

Anyone remember Yo-Jello? I think that's what it was called. They came in little snack packs.
Yogurt on the bottom,
Jello on the top,
2 great flavors in one great something or other.
It didn't last very long.
