I read your re-cap and I will have to say I loved the show. He did all my favorite Larry The Cable Guy bits, except for the one about a decent punchline. Maybe next time. Also, it sounds like his celebrity references are fully up to date. Everybody know the funniest way to make fun of someones age (which by the way, is the best thing to joke about) is to draw a comparison to that one lady from the 70's who was on that thing with the kids. MHowever, my least favorite part of the show according to the review is that it did take Cable .3 seconds to say the thing he says (you know, Git r done.. the same thing that was whispered to God on the day before the first day!). I couldn't for the life of me figure out what was taking him so long. Frankly, I wanted to cry, but then slowly, that 1/3 of a second finally passed, he said it and my brain immediately switched from sadness to the kind of joy I get when I watch raccoons fuck. Hooray Larry, you did it again! Wish I could have been there!!

for the post above...

uh, you post a news item to public blog and then ban comments out of fear that people might shit in the thread?

fucking grow up dan -- you work for a newspaper. is free speech that scary to you?

it could actually be used a nice place to memorialize them. but i guess you probably know best...

A good thing about insomnia (on rare occasions at this point, thank god) is that you can sober up on honey and wheatgrass milkshakes. (Thanks hon) So, check this, one of my Wordpress supposed enemies an hour ago sends me this youtube thing about makezine.com - has this been slogged about? the clip i got was about making bikemessenger bags out of the plastic bags that one gets QFC, Safeway, 7-11 crap in. (and i'm guilty, got a hundred of em). So the guy is disturbingly hipster - the snark, the specs etc - the girl is sass and telling us about what's good for the environment - so after a minute, i just clicked the volume off - make a long story short, Not Recommended.

this is for the astute observations made by #5. Is it Mother or Father who knows best?

@5, it's getting pretty obvious that the snarky, jackass Dan of old who we all thought we knew and loved has gone over to the dark side and is now only interested in being "kinder and gentler." Don't know whether the change has been brought on by parenthood, what little modicum of fame he has achieved, or just plain old age (pass the Geritol, please!), but we've lost him. Let's all bow our heads for a moment of silence.

@7.....you think those boners from makezine are "disturbingly hipster"? they're disturbingly fucking nerds...although i guess that line is being blurred more and more everyday...

i agree @9 - that disturbing guy reminds of the twit who builds houses for poor people, ala publisher's clearing house. he's on sunday nights, abc i think. i've seen it once or twice, but I'm sure they talk about biodegradable supplies, and 'green' building that is supposed to tickle the altruistic funny bone. such bullshit. Just aceppt the Hell you live in, and try home improving yr soulmindwax, imopining

if hipster and nerds are becoming more and more one, why are most hipsters still stupid?

I agree. Most hipsters still seem to think it's cool that they sucked in math class.
