Funny, I was just blogging about this on my web site, before the stoopeed IE browser window locked up and trashed my post.

Leave it to an alcoholic beverage purveyor (Dewar's) to come up with yet another bogus "holiday" to try to convince us to get completely shite-faced (preferably on their product line, no doubt) - as if we need another excuse. I mean, it's not like every other national (or international) holiday hasn't already been co-opted as a marketing tool by the beverage industry - now they have to start making up new ones?

What's next?

- National "Drink Like A Pirate Day" (Capt. Morgan's Spiced Rum)

- October Revolution Day (Stoli)

- Indian Independence Day (Bombay gin)

- ITMFA Day (anything)

I love the October Revolution Dat idea.

Also, I will be celebrating not by imbibing Dewars, but rather by partaking in another substance that should be un-prohibited.

I'm not usually one to embrace a corporate-invented holiday, but I can't help myself. All my favorite holidays are just excuses to drink, so I'm fully supporting this one.

Too bad most states still limit the alcohol content of beer and other drinks.

I kind of like the idea of this holiday (especially since it comes the day after my birthday) but I'm reluctant to get too excited about a neoholidayism pushed by a booze manufacturer.

I do, however, like the graphic design used in this campaign.

Now if they'd only repeal the prohibition against pot, I'd be happy.
