@6: Yeah, that's what I looked at it! It didn't even register that it was an 8-day old baby, and not an 8-year old child until I read the article. Doing that to an 8-year old is sick, but doing that to an 8-day old baby is sicker!

Honestly my head can't get around this. It's TOO heinous to be true. There must be some other explanation for the baby's injuries, shaken/dropped/hit but not what they are saying. Surely no-one could be that depraved.

I'm going to get hammered for this, but I think it's more hurtful to rape and murder an eight-year-old than an eight-day-old. The eight-day-old doesn't know what's happening to it, and while its ordeal of pain and suffering would be horrendous, it doesn't have the knowledge that would make a more developed child's horror run deeper and more chillingly. She would know EXACTLY what was happening to her, and who was doing it, and what it meant.

Oh Detroit why? That city breeds savages. And I don't mean the Dan variety. Lincoln Park (just North of Downtown Detroit) was close to where I lived. Once I was driving through some alleys, in Lincoln Park, to avoid some sort of weird traffic, and almost drove right over a bloody-and-still-warm-pile of dead pit bulls. Probably just missed the big fight...

Another time, I saw a guy trying to push a shopping cart full of aluminum siding down the street. People will steal anything and everything there. Even the siding right off your house.

This story is so much worse than anything I can remember ever happening there though. Christ on a crutch.

I am looking at my 10 day old son as I read this, and it truly sickens me that people like this asshole exist. I hope every kind of horror fills his life, for the rest of his pathetic life if he's guilty of this.

The headline for this link should have been: "Is this the face of a man that would RAPE his eight-day-old daughter to death?" Using the word "Fuck" instead of "Rape" was inappropriate, although I recognize that no wrong purpose was intended. We should always be careful to distinguish between rape and sex in the language that we use.

I guess it would be hard to compare. An infant if it did not die would carry physical scars for the rest of her life, like infertility. That is terribly traumatic and depressing for some woman,
Some woman never recover from emotional scars like that and feel less because of it.

22. Incidentally, the fact that an 8 day old child was involved would indicate that the act was not at all consensual and that the act was a rape is a given whether the word 'fuck' or 'rape' was used.

We should wait until the trial. Just because he's a wife beater doesn't mean he's a baby-fucker. Let's wait until we get all the information.

Dan, as sick and disturbing as this story is, I do want to thank you for sharing it with us. We hear over and over and over again how gay and lesbian parents are unfit and that children need opposite-sex parents, etc. Stories like this should be shoved in the face of homophobes at every turn. Maybe it will help them gain some perspective.

Sadly, I have no problem whatsoever believing that this man raped his 8 DAY OLD daughter. It is heinous and horrendous, but I really don't doubt his guilt. Of course, he deserves his day in court and I hope he has a fair trial......... but forensic evidence will most likely nail him on this charge.

And once he goes to prison, the real fun for him starts. Child molestors are targeted for abuse by other prisoners and are treated brutally. This guy will be raped and beaten non-stop. He will be lucky in fact if he lives long enough to complete his sentence.

My heart breaks for this little girl. I can only imagine how horrified her mother must be. If guilty, I hope he gets the maximum sentence allowed by Michigan law.

#26 - Per the article, the guy is more than willing to take blood tests and lie detector tests to prove his innocence.

I hope he is innocent because I really, really don't want to believe that it could be true.
