metro driver hits the alarm/interferes, he/she gets a beating, too. the drivers aren't cops.
not sure that light rail would have prevented this.
King County Metro: We'll Get You There!
I think this was under the Morning News.
@1 Damn right the Metro drivers aren't cops, but if Metro won't shell out the coin to make the bus experience safer, then they'll have to shell out the coin to the victims of violence, the same people from whom they accept money in the fulfillment of an implicit contract to get their riders safely to their destination. Shit costs money.
give the bus driver the right and duty to throw anyone of the buus anytime if they are rude, disruptive or smelly.
Pass a law immunizing them from any kind of lawsuit for this.
Give them the same right you have to not let anyone into your own car.
We have to get control over public transit.
Smade: damn right.
unPC: the driver has all those rights anyway.
from what i understand the argument in this case was never: are metro drivers cops. the argument was, did the driver see the incident.
So we can hope for $125,000 worth of security upgrades at least right?
Dan
How come your SLOG contributions aren't showing up as of today on the Savage page?
It's really irritating to have to go look for your comments, worthwhile as they may be to search for.
Eve if you buy that the driver didn't see anything, shouldn't he have been monitoring the situation? 25-30 asshole teenagers get on the bus and he doesn't check back now and then to make sure everything's ok? When I was a week tike riding the school bus, those drivers could see everything that went on back there.
i mean to say: the driver was probably fucking scared. i would be.
