Dan, are you trying to prove a point w/ these watch posts? Cuz the same can be done w/ Janitors, IT guys, waiters, etc.
@1,
Well, the guy had a previous conviction, and it would seem that Central Presbyterian Church either didn't give a shit or didn't bother to conduct a simple background check.
i can't say i'm sure what dan's point is. but a janitor might not claim to know the way of living a morally proper life. an IT guy might not be trusted with children.
@1 - the difference being that janitors and IT guys aren't in positions of trust and leadership over vulnerable minors.
But to be honest, these posts aren't even amusing anymore, just sad and repetetive. Youth pastor sexual abuse - we all know it happens frequently and all across the country. Time for a new theme.
I think the point may what #3 was getting at, Dan is pointing out the hypocrisy of religious figures who claim to have a bead on what 'god' expects, claiming the deadliest of sins is homosexuality while attacking children.
THese folks claim that gay men and women should not be parents because that in and of itself is child abbuse.
These posts are the same kind of light shed on the Larry Craig's of the world. I don't think they are meant to be amusing, they are meant to be in your face so we can't jsut forget about this and all have a jolly good laugh about soemthing else.
I would go further than even when children aren't being sexually assaulted by church going folks they are still being abused by brainwashing them with their nonsense but that's my bias.
Oh and I live in Longmont- about 5 blocks from Kimbark Street and this isn't even barely registering on the local front anymore. I'm personally glad the Dan keeps it out in the light, this kind of violence agaisnt children thrives in secrecy and the more its out in the open the better.
I agree, but he's preaching to the choir-to use a religious expression.
Having grown up in a fundamentalist Baptist church but now being out as a gay man, I take guilty pleasure in these posts. After all those years of being put through torment and being told how horrible my kind is, I rather enjoy the exposure of those who did that preaching. Admittedly, it's not terribly honorable on my part. But it does give some gratification.
@7- yes. he's preaching to the chior but he's also using the platform he has built for himself as the editor to speak up on what he believes in- I don't know how teh idea spread that theduty of slog was to entertain- though granted there is plenty of entertainment- as a blog, it's contributors get to to use their platform for what they think needs to be brought to attention.
Well, I like the damn posts. So that's settled.
