Here's an excellent example of a politician catering to the fear vote. (And it's so overdone, it could be an SNL parody.) Oh no! Mexicans! Islam! Bombings! Too bad he couldn't afford more screen time to toss in a few frames of gay men getting married or a sick person getting a stem cell transplant. (Or heck, even scarier would be a sick person getting affordable health care! AAAaaarrrg! Run for the hills!)

Yikes is right. It's hard to argue with something so emotional. I think it'll connect quite viscerally to a lot of voters, alas.

Though the Tancredo version has slicker production qualities, I think Johnson's is still superior, as political art goes.

If you recall from the WWII era, the "Japs" were gunna do the U.S. administration harm so they simply arrested US citizens and put them in Concentration Camps; saying in the I LOVE COFFEE SONG, "oops Mr Moto I'm a coffee pot" ie the Japs were everywhere spying on us. Now there is an Islamic terrorist behind every bush and in every shopping mall. For those hunky sexy as hell arab men out there, you can always hide under my bed covers!

This is one of the most surprising things I've seen in ages. A Youtube video with mostly intelligent comments.

Though there was a Ron Paul supporter nestled in there.

You know, it's funny. I remember having conversations with my buddies just before we were to graduate from high school. And at the time, all of us were saying pretty much the same thing: "You know, I had a dream of being a dishwasher, or, a fruit picker, or, a menial laborer, but then I found out those 20 million illegal immigrants from Mexico had already snapped up all the cushy below-minimum wage jobs! Now, I guess I'll just have to go to college instead!"

Another American Dream shattered, all because of those spineless politicians.

@ 16, Tancredo grew up in NW Denver, a nice Italian neighborhood. (Trivia - Ask the Dust author John Fante was from this neighborhood too.) This neighborhood was where Denver's Mexican and Mexican-American residents moved en masse. Tancredo fled to the 'burbs and eventually made this his calling to politics. I'd bet my house that seeing his old 'hood taken over by Hispanics had everything to do with this.

BTW, there was some controversy surrounding Tancredo's basement remodeling a few years ago. Apparently some of the workers were undocumented residents of Mexico...
