And if I'd voted by absentee three weeks ago as I'd planned, I would have voted for Bruce Harrell. I was mad at Venus for making a bad decision in terms of drinking and driving before the election. But now I'm going to vote for Venus after all, which was my original thought before she got her DUI.

So I guess the Sierra Club and Bruce Harrell are not happy that I'm voting on Election Day as opposed to voting early by mail!

Cressona I know you're so pumped up steam is clouding your vision but I didn't say I had any inside polling info. What I said was, the fact that the Gov met with her highway director over the weekend to talk about what to do if it failed is not a sign of confidence and could well mean their polling wasn't looking good.

I'm voting at home, last minute with my absentee ballot. It's my Miller time since I work night shift so I'm at my desk surrounded by Tecate's while voting pretty much with the Strangers suggestions except for transit and trying to decide on Ramirez and Initiative 25.

Anyone have any opinions on Initiative 25?

I'm temtpted to leave all the uncontesteds blank, this won't invalidate my ballot will it?

I voted yes on the RTID Prop 1. I abstained from the KC Prosecutors race, but did write in a vote for Zombie Norm Maleng. I voted down the initiatives, as usual. I abstained from the Della/Burgess race. I voted for Sally Clark and Joe Szwaja (for his stance on housing development). I voted, with great nausea but with purpose that should be somewhat clear to Sloggers by now, for Bruce Harrell. I was pretty much with the Stranger on the Port and School Board positions... except for siding with Maria Ramirez over Steve Sundquist, as Ramirez's credentials are more practical.

I will be seriously bummed out to see anti density, anti gay, anti choice, pointy headed anal retentive Tim Burgess get elected to the Seattle City Council. Tim does not represent my urban values -- which he has made abundantly clear in so many ways. Even if you can get past his work with CWfA and his insulting 2005 Op-Ed, he is still closely aligned with (people like Jeannie Hale from Montlake and other) uptight anti-density, anti-renter folk. That sucks and Tim sucks!

I voted for Venus, Maria Ramirez, Szwaja, Sherman, No on Eyman...I really went back and forth about the Roads/Transit one. I think I said No - but was so close to voting Yes that I may have done it. I could see big potential for regret either way.

Burgess/Della was a lose/lose race. I couldn't get beyond Burgess' anti-lots of things important to me past and reluctantly voted for Della.

1. You may take your mail in ballot to a polling place, any polling place - or mail it. It must be in the mail today, postmarked, or it will not be counted.

2. If you have any problems, did not receive a ballot, not sure you are registered, whatever, go to a polling place and you will be able to vote by provisional ballot.

3. If you have spoiled your ballot, go to a polling place and vote provisional ballot, and completely destroy the old ballot.

4. If you think there is any real issue go downtown to the County Admin. Bldg. and do it in person. Lines, but they have extra staff and move quickly.

5. Ballots in many languages are at polling places. Ask.

6. It is OK to take notes, phamplets, cheat sheets to the polling booth to help you mark you ballot.

At the risk of sounding like a bad person is it unreasonable to assume that anyone voting has a decent command of the english language? I mean they had to pass the citizenship test right? I'm not interested in disenfranchising anyone, I'm just scratching my head.

Not in the paper, but on Slog, at the Slogger's descretion, I think it would be great to hear individual takes on voting preferences from Dan, Erica, Josh, Eli, Dominic, etc. and just leave it at that.

Too many people assume The Stranger is just this one-voice thing. Sure, that's the end product, but internally that's obviously not the case. Why not show a little of that variety?

There is a better way.

Or, you could pass prop. 1 and be known around the world as auto-loving dinosaurs who are living in the 1960s and who don't care.

Kind of like Pat Buchanan who is on tv laughing about climate change.

Looking forward to the ST2.1 vote in Feb 2008 and the Critical Bridges and Highways ballot issue next fall. When the massive pro-Dem turnout happens.

Listen, I already did not like the tight ass before the horrid Op-Ed came to light. At least with Venus you get what you get. Burgess is a slippery little fucker.

I realize that people hate Della for his stance on the Viaduct, but the Stranger's favorite son Nick Licata was urging him on so what up with that?

Burgess is horrible. I'd rather have an ineffective pro gay, pro choice dude than a really slimy and effective PR guy who can spin his bullshit. I don't like the guy and I don't trust the guy.

Burgess sucks! That leaves Della who I voted for. Della is also usually a pretty good vote for labor issues which matters to me.

A No vote today will definitely mean going back to the drawing board to work with the over 50 jurisdictions that are a part of the regional planning process for ST. It won't be a simple pairing down process, there are just way too many interests at the table. But if Chris Gregorie and Joni Earl can pull that off, then they should be appointed for life because that would nothing less than a minor miracle.

And BTW, I support your pro-embeachment position.

I'll basically vote for anything that lays even one more mile of track anywhere. Once it's there, it's there, and it'll get used eventually. But waiting for the perfect proposition that makes everyone happy? In Seattle? Ha ha!
