This totally caught me off guard. I've been following this story and really thought he was going to make it back safely. Fucking horrible.
The Times had it much earlier this morning. The 9:55 was a reported-out update with a lot more info than the P-I. Generally, the Times kicks the P-I's butt with Web updates.
This guy was in my class at Garfield.
I don't suppose the State Department will be doing any saber-rattling on Harris's behalf. Not like he was an oil executive or something.
"Suicide." You've gotta be fucking kidding me.
The bigger they are, the more likely, um, they are to be able to hang themselves with their own shoelaces.
So the guy calls home saying he fears for his life, then is found dead by hanging after the police receive a tip, and the police think this is suicide? I guess that's South American justice for you.
What kind of fucked up shit is this? And why couldn't the American embassy help get him out of there? Useless fuckers.
Does anyone know *why* he was afraid for his life, or what these rumors involving him were supposed to be about?
sounds like organized crime to me. maybe he was peripherally involved and knew too much.
I am sad for his wife and family. It's a horrible, horrible story. :(
This stinks to high heaven. This poor guy got rolled up in some dirty business and it's not going to become an international incident why?
Fuck an oil tycoon. If he were a 14 year old blond girl Nancy Grace would be going all post partum on Brazil's ass right now.
This seems conspicuously overlooked in National media.
@10 "...a 14 year old blond girl Nancy Grace would be going all post partum on Brazil's ass right now."
HiLARIOUS.
If this is a suicide i'll eat my hat. I cannot believe it is being reported as such without serious speculatiuon that that story is total BS. I have no faith that there is any serious diligence on the part of the state department to find out what really happened to him.
Attention to all brothers:
Stay out of Brazil.
The Stranger likes to puff up the PI whenever they get a chance. I guess it's that underdog thing. Look it up: Your little underdog is owned by a faceless media conglomerate based in NYC who couldn't give a shit about a jerkwater town like Seattle and can't wait to pull the plug on it's money-sucking PI.
Why, it's like comparing the Weekly to the Stranger, isn't it?
