@6 We don't actually use my Saudi oil. Mostly we use Venezuelan oil. The reason we like to protect Middle Eastern supplies is so we don't have to compete with Europeans for the South American stuff.

It's interesting to me that the female victim is now married, and that her husband says they are appealing the ruling. The optimist in me hopes that he is the same guy she was going to marry before, and that he loved her enough to buck the trend in Muslim countries of blaming the victim and viewing them as "soiled." there is a solution. just like unleaded gas engines wiped out leaded ones... in time hybrid vehicles will make our current vehicles obsolete. Hybrids are going to be a necessity if war keeps the price of oil high. I really don't mind driving a car with a little less power to not be dependent on a bunch of backward assholes who happen to be lucky enough to sit on an oil rich land. Technology will make their arrogance wither in time.

#7: Same fucking difference. Our dependence on oil requires protecting supplies and placating allies and trade partners. It doesn't matter if we're currently using Venezuelan, Mexican, and domestic oil. Our dependence is still propping up Saudi Arabia. So in the end, the poster you're replying to remains correct.
