Republican-controlled FCC? Foregone conclusion, m'friend. It's like the job posting that, by law, must be posted even though somebody's nephew already has the job.

No one in the Republican coven is going to pay mind to anything anybody from Seattle has to say about FCC regulations. The meeting was for show. "See how open we are?" That sort of thing.

Looks like it's up to Congress now to put the brakes on further media deregulation.

So we need one more democrat as a commissioner. Did anyone actually expect the current commission would do anything otherwise? Sad, unhopeful, but true. So we just need more internet radio, more podcasts, more blogs - we're evolving. Maybe this is the push to get us past the airwaves and leave the megabroadcasters in the dust. Sort of like iTunes and the major labels. Sounds like a job for Apple and a bunch of shareware developers to me. With bus WiFi, couldn't we all be listening to an internet radio or podcast now? Yes. The issue, of course, is all those car-bound folks. I'm actually surprised they aren't using their iPods or Zunes or cell phones as music machines. Do we really care? Isn't the P-I likely to become an internet-only daily? Won't we still be reading it? I mean, I almost never actually pick up a hard-copy of The Stranger. Is traditional media worth worrying over anymore?
