Everyone knows that Mormonism is a Satanic Cult whose members are doomed to spend eternity in a stew of boiling human excrement with worms crawling in and out of their pain-filled bodies.

Wow. This seems to be a career-limiting move if proven.

But I guess I shouldn't underestimate Republicants ability to ignore sleezy and hypocritical behavior when it suits them. Because Bill Clinton once got a blowjob, right?!?

I find it curious that very few people from Massachusetts have anything good to say about Romney (ditto for New Yorkers and Guiliani), yet these bozos somehow think that qualifies them to be President.

And BTW, Joseph Smith, the founder of the Mormon church, honestly believed that Jesus Christ lived in Missouri. No joke. Tell me again why anyone should take these wingnuts seriously?

C'mon, he is not attacking Mormons, just testing to see what attacks will work against him. It's like testing a car's new brakes by actually pressing them before you drive on I-5. People are SO quick to assume something is a push poll because it is the only inside political term they know besides, "chad"

Mormonism seems pretty stupid at first, but is it fair to say the gold tablets are more stupid than the immaculate conception or Mohammed on his flying horse? To me they are all stupid things to believe. It might seem fair to discriminate against all religions equally in favor of non-fantasy beliefs, but I don't think it's fair to have Romney at a special disadvantage to whatever stupid crap McCain or Giuliani say they believe (not to mention the stupid crap Clinton, Gore, Obama and Edwards say they believe).

And so if it's true that Mormons deserve to be given equal consideration as other kooky believers in imaginary crap, then what is wrong with using sneaky tricks to overcome the prejudice of meatheads who have it in for Mormons? In particular the kind of meatheads that favor dumbshit evangelical Protestantism over dumbshit Mormonism?

I mean, sure, it would be nice if none of these American Taliban voted at all, but since they will, I think all the various flavors of retarded religions should get a level playing field.

Dan,

Romney is not a "douche". A douche is an idiot (look it up in urbandictionary.com), and Romney is no idiot. Romney is a doucheBAG.

To quote the UD's second def of douchebag:
"Someone who has surpassed the levels of jerk and asshole, however not yet reached fucker or motherfucker. Not to be confused with douche."

I think you could also reasonably argue that Romney has passed douchebag and slipped right on into motherfucker. But he's no douche.

I myself believe that all kooky religions are on the same level as believing in unicorns. However, there is one large difference between Christianity/Islam and the Mormons. Christianity and Islam were created so far in the past, that we don't know very much about their origins. We don't know what is fact and what is allegory.

This allows people to gloss over the kookier stuff and say that it is just a myth or an allegory.

Mormonism has the problem that it was founded in modern times. We know in great detail about what was going on. We can easily disprove the craziness, and it's not possible to claim myth or allegory.

That doesn't necessarily make Mormonism less crazy, it just makes it easier to attack and harder to defend.

I love the story of the founding of Mormonism. I see it as a contemporary example of how all religions are founded. A charismatic leader convinces his followers to believe in some astounding bullshit. Then, once he dies (particularly if his death can in any way be attributed to martyrdom), his religion spreads like wildfire.

The next logical step, after a "Morman"
runs for president would be for a "Merman"
to run. Go Ethel!
