Decidedly a mixed bag. Clearly voters didn't buy the insurance company's hyperbole, did buy Eyman's unconstitutional bullshit (fuck you too Eyman), want more roads and no mass transit (or the opposite) and hate kids. Seriously 4204 what the fuck???

I saw Bruce Boram at Tim Burgess's party. Ironic since he is the guy who illegally funneled money from the US Chamber of Commerce into the 2004 AG race. Tim used to head Seattle's office to enforce campaign finance laws, and there at his victory party is the guy responsible for the largest violation (at least in dollar amount) of campaign finace laws in state history.

I feel like a total schmo for having voted for him. I hope Burgess is as uncomfortable with his supporters as I am.

Last report, which your morning papers will have missed, is that Fisken is losing to Bryant. Just adding to the misery.

well dan it was depressing as hell. the conservatives were out in full force: light rail is postponed indefinitely, simple majority for schools was denied, and people actually voted yes on I 960.

i'm not sure i know where i live anymore.

I didn't even vote! We had an uncontested city council race here in Ann Arbor. That's it.

But the results out there are suitably depressing. At least the Democrats won in Kentucky and Virginia!

Pretty depressing. The right-wing in this state is just better at turning out voters in off-year elections. Lefties only vote when it’s sexy. GOTV campaigns are the way to win. Tim Eyman knows it, and keeps getting his people out. Only 25% of King County’s mostly liberal voters turned out. All the money that was spent on public education from the RTID and Simple Majority people should have been spent organizing, doing field work, and getting all their supporters out to vote. “No on 912” knew GOTV was best the last time around and got the state to vote for higher gas taxes to support transportation.

Prop. 1 lost because it was ill thought out. A bad roads plan (no prioritization of safety projects first) (disconnected ehre and there improvements not synergizing improvements) and a bad rail plan (bad funding source, too long and stretched out instead of focusing on covering all of Seattle first, creating more destinations and synergy. Shit, it didn't even go to Seattle Center).

It's not pro roads or anti transit or anti roads or pro transit we want an integrated, efficient system to be built that conveys more benefits than costs.

And does not burden the poorest folks the most.
