Slog Tracking Poll: Results

posted by on November 13 at 17:07 PM

This is an unusual result, at least relative to our previous Slog tracking polls. Either John Edwards is surging this month among Slog readers (he’s been third in our poll since August), or some of you have way too much time on your hands and are spending it manipulating our results.

It could also be that somebody linked to this poll on a bunch of Edwards web sites today. Or maybe the demographics that support Obama and Clinton didn't go to work today. Or maybe lots of new people are reading the Slog, and they all got here from mannequinfucking.com, a hotbed of Edwards fans. Dan's fault, as usual.

There's actually an infinite number of explanations. Since your sample is not random, your poll will always be at the mercy of evil influences.

Why don't you email the question to a random sample of Slog posters, and only accept one reply from each email address? That would be scientific.

I for one didn't vote 50 times today. I'm not lying.

...or AM I?

I chose Kucinich. I'm souring on Obama. Could others be as well, as Edwards maintains his base of fans and Obama and Hillary keep kicking their tonsils?

I voted a couple hours ago and Obama was in the lead, with Clinton at like 20-something percent, and Edwards in third. There were also significantly fewer votes. Although, why someone would want to skew a poll like this is beyond me.

Kucinich is the only one who is even remotely sensible. So of course he doesn't stand a chance - this is the land of non-sense.

A couple of possibilities ...

1. Former Obama supporters realize he's a nincompoop, to the benefit of Edwards.

2. Slog voters, finally realizing that Gore is not running under any circumstances, turn their attention to another white male who might actually have a chance at winning.

3. The usual ballot stuffing and unscientific polling.

I select #3.

18 on question 2, the other polls always did an alternative without Gore so that possibility is pretty moot.

@18 and on question 1, that would mean Hillary is getting absolutely crushed, with 66% of the slogo-sphere against her she would have no chance in the Capitol hill neighborhood association by-elections

There is no truth to the rumor that the secret Edwards state office that doesn't exist has a lot of volunteer staffers.

Hey, Edwards would be a great VP for Obama as well.

I looked at the poll several times during the day. At one point there were around 650 votes, and Edwards was a distant third, maybe 10%. Of the last 400 votes, Edwards has to have gotten almost all of them. Throw it out.

I Love Edwards. John Edwards' wife that is.
