To expect the Democrats to stand up is as likely to happen as Rush Limbaugh getting a hard on without erection medication. NOT going to happen.

given public opinion, their refusal to resist fascism can only be attributed to their general agreement with it.

the green critique of 2000 is utterly correct: there is little difference between dems & pukes in matters of real consequence. both represent the interests of money & corporate power, & not of the citizenry.

I blame Dan.

He told us to vote for GWB in 2000.

(sorry, Dan, had to be said)

That said, it is pathetic.

What the FUCK? It'd be one thing if they had negotiated some secret compromise with Bush so that he might, say, sign off on SCHIP funding this time around if they cast the deciding vote on Mukasey. But you know they didn't do that, because Bush wouldn't make deals like that anyway.

Seriously, what on earth do Schumer and Feinstein get out of this?

Jesus Christ, that's demoralizing.

You can't even stand up against TORTURE? Fucking sickening.

I just saw this on the Newshour with Jim Lehrer and screamed at my TV. THIS is why I'm checking out, y'all. Dumbasses.

@6 ** You can't even stand up against TORTURE? Fucking sickening. **

That describes it very well. CALL Schumer and Feinstein on Monday. Seriously, everybody call them Monday and use this quote.

Call your own senators too. The only way to change things is to express your outrage. After a certain level, the outrage becomes *news* - and then even senators can't ignore it.

And Joe Lieberman was on NPR this afternoon defending Bush's actions re Iran. God we need a real opposition party so badly in this country.

Gore Vidal's been saying it for years--we are a single-party country (the party of the Corporation) with two wings, and shit like this just proves it. Quid Pro Quo bullshit. It couldn't get any clearer that this man is just Gonzales repackaged, and the Democrats should be ashamed of caving once again.

Sorry to say Feinstein is one of my senators. I will be calling Monday. Not the first time she has disappointed in regards to Bush's agenda.
