Dude wants to define a citizen as when a sperm meets and egg. He's "libertarian" until it comes to the government regulating women's bodies. Morally repugnant, is what that is.

Yeah, I'm a little confused too. Ron Paul is the recommended candidate of David Duke and Stormfront.org, the white-power kooks. They're CRAZY about him over there. Maybe his leftie supporters here in Seattle ought to find out why.

@7:
& ol' uncle jess knows what i'm talking about, he was around a'fore all this pre-integration "civil rights" shit, and Daisy bless her soul would never need to cross the Mason-Dixon line, and go up north to get rid of her little problem. thats how we like it down here.

Comment by Terry Parkhurst

There are times I think there are alternative universes involving politics. This article posted at the NY Times web site says Ron Paul is on a roll; however, most newspaper accounts I have read, say it is now Rudy Giuliani in the lead. How is the latter determined and by whom?

In answer to the question of how Ron Paul became a so-called "darling of the Left"? is simply because he is the only registered Republican to take on the sitting president, while simultaneously running for the Republican presidential nomination.

And as for "John freakin' McCain" as one poster wondered, 2000 was before he signed on in support of an invasion of Iraq and back when he said that although he preferred adoption over abortion, he wouldn't make being against Roe v. Wade a litmus test to nominating anyone to the Supreme Court (assuming he'd become president). He also said, back then, he didn't think Roe v. Wade would ever be overturned.

By the way, John and Cindy McCain have an adopted daughter, a Bangladeshi orphan that Cindy McCain asked her husband to adopt, after she worked with a relief agency in that country. The guy walks his talk; and people who aren't idealogues of the right or left, respect him for that alone.

Now of course, he is pandering big time. The guy is 71 years old and he knows it's his last chance at the job of president; that's not a defense, just an explanation.

People liked John McCain in 1999 and 2000, because he seemed honest and straight-forward. It led a lot of people - myself included - to work on his campaign, even though we didn't necessarily believe in all he might espouse. The same dynamic is in place with Representative Paul.

The first place I myself really learned much about John McCain was in the January 1999 issue of George, the fine magazine published by the late John Kennedy Jr.

As for the allegations of Ron Paul being a "darling of the Klan" those have yet to be verified by some reputable news source such as the NY Times. Right now, they are the postulations of a various bloggers. (Now I expect to see a flowering of various links appearing.) If true, they will verified and that will be the end of Ron Paul's presidential aspirations; count on that.
