2008 Re: That Poll Showing Hillary Losing to Any Republican? (Total Bullshit.)

onYikes, sorry for posting about that Zogby poll that’s now been debunked. I’m honestly a little embarrassed, but as for why the poll got so much traction on political blogs… Well, this Doonesbury cartoon comes to mind. It’s been making the rounds of the political blogosphere. The first two panels:

Have you looked into that UW Extension Intro to Statistics class I mentioned previously? Like seven times. If you signed up now, I think you'd be done well before the party conventions, if not the later primaries. It's like the GI Joe thing about knowing things. Knowing what you are talking about is, you know, good?
Figured out who Greg Palast is yet?
Hey Eli,
You are beginning to sound like an Andrew Sullivan bunk-mate.
The poll that's false; the escort who's not, the Showbox sale that didn't happen.
It's a slow Near-News week.
Eli, hold up. The Zogby poll is not "debunked", it's just finding something different from the gallup poll. The hilaryites are trying to discredit it, but I think it points us to a serious problem that shouldn't be ignored: Hilary's negatives are way high across the board.
@1 - not a bad idea. Most reporters fail to even chart changes related to population growth, income, or anything.
That said, ain't gonna be no Republicants in the WH, except for the servants.
@5 - please, give it up. The poll is an outlier, and its results are meaningless unless supported by further polls. Preferably ones not by Zogby, whose "experimental" polling techniques are of questionable reliability to begin with.
And yes, it sure would be nice if everyone had some more statistics background. It's too easy to abuse them.
@7 - well, one out of twenty of the abusers would love it! even if they had too small a sample size and were non-randomly chosen as Zogby does.
The Doonesbury cartoon is more likely making the rounds due to the current Joe Klein dust-up.
Chris Crocker is going to be so disappointed in you. Err wait..does it go that you're in him.
