I thought this got covered in that previous column, but I guess not. Not ALL bears are fat and hairy old (by "old" I mean middle-aged) guys. All of them are hairy and old, but some of them are muscular, not fat. As for "Daddy" or "Wolf", I'm not sure what they mean, so I guess I can't really argue with you there! The only terms I know are twink, otter, hunk, and bear. Oh, and "chicken-hawk", but that doesn't really have anything to do with looks now, does it?

Two things ... this guy obviously shaves/waxes (imposter bear!)

Two ... as far as keeping lean? He probably looks bulkier normally with SOME fat over his midsection, then dehydrate fat cells before the photo shoot usually to look cut.

Ask anyone who lifts it's hard to maintain mass AND stay lean. Not easy, and you have to alternate training.

Kind of like body builders, but not as much.

hmmmm...interesting comments, for the most part.

I will say, that the only interesting thing, at least for ME, about this guy, IS his 'pinkberries'...They ARE pretty incredible and the only thing my eyes are drawn to in this picture. I mean, THEY CAST SHADOWS, PEOPLE!!! AWESOME!!

The waxing, overly large muscles and vacant expression don't really do much for me, though.

I am surprised no one has castigated me/Dan for objectifying these models. I always do feel a little shitty about that...I'm sure this model is a very sweet young man and his mother is very proud of him.

Oh yeah another aside. Most taller men ... it takes YEARS for them to fill out any bit of muscle. And yes age does help. Most men over 6'4'' don't get substantial muscle at least until their mid 20's. And that's if they work for it.

I guess ... I will give him an E for effort. Somehow, I think that is more attractive. It's more attractive to see people as GETTING fit as opposed to being fit. Anyone in the industry knows that fitness is a lifelong process and you never really every there ... you are always trying to challenge, trying to push yourself, trying to meet fitness goals whether or not they have attained them. And they evolve and change, are met or are failed just as everything you do in life. I don't necessarily like super model women, I like women with personality. But I do love to a take a girl to the gym, go for a run, and make do some hard swim laps. I like to think it pays of in the long run. I do think there is a "fit" body type for all sorts of body types. Kate Winslet will never look like Natilie Portman and that is fine.

Call me superficial at first, but I'm no slouch and I would like to maintain it and feel good about ourselves togethor instead laying some sort of blame game.

What's feminist (or antisuperficialist)supposed to do with that? I'm not trying set some sort of double standard? Am I?
