Oh, Baby, You Make Me So Fair and Balanced

posted by on November 17 at 19:44 PM

The folks at Fox News want you to take a long, hard look at what they’re trying to beat. All these clips are taken from actual broadcasts.

We act surprised that the Republican lawmakers and evangelical priests who have railed against a sexualized culture are turning out to be the most sexualized among us. We’ve had the clues for years—demand begets supply. Pictures and more over here.

Thanks, tipper NaFun.

When Geraldo reads Anna Nicole's diary replace the word "blank" with the word "smurf" and you have a skit from SNL.

Isn't Bill O'Reilly that guy who likes phone blank while having a blank shaped blank stuck up his blank? Somehow... I think he is. At least, thats what the papers on the "Smoking Gun" show.

Rupert Murdoch knows how to make money. Found an under-served segment (conservatives who still believe in liberal media bias) and gave them slanted news (correcting for that liberal bias) and loads of what they want (lots of footage of those horrible, latte-sipping, free-sex Coastal liberals for them to be shocked at).

The man's a media genius. An evil genius, perhaps, but a genius none the less.

Yeah, it's called Tabloid news, Murdoch's forte. It's basically Hard Copy/A Current Affair mixed with right wing editorializing. Usually people level their critique at the propagandistic elements of Fox News while ignoring the fact that around 70 percent of it is actually just junk entertainment/tabloid news about porn stars, horny high school teachers seducing boys, and "high profile" kidnappings.

Murdoch has always been about the tabloid news. People attacking Fox News emphasize the political angle, but really the channel is about 70% tabloid television (ala A Current Affair, Inside Edition, and maybe some E! bullshit thrown in), and 30 percent right wing editorializing. They mostly report on blown up sex scandals, horny teachers fucking their boy students, and kidnapping/rape cases.

My original post didn't appear for like 15 minutes, so there are two posts that are kind of the same. Ooops.
