What a shame about poor black friday numbers. Maybe people will buy less imported crap and save their money in US banks, wouldn't that be awlful. Read the article and you get to read about a woman humiliated to go to Big Lots and buy a 42 knife set. Don't be embarrassed about going to Big Lots, be embarrassed about buying 42 knives. What could you possibly need with 42 knives?

They saved the best one for the end of the story: the woman who jumped on a pile of digital frames (a hot-seller apparently; I don't even know what they are).

Digital frames are devices that look like standard picture frams (about 8"x5" or so), that allow you to download digital graphic images onto them, then display them like a traditional print photo in a frame.

And I don't think they're all that expensive - maybe $20 - $30, so hardly a high-end item.

But then, in the feeding frenzy that usually accompanies Black Friday, I wouldn't be surprised to see people buying dirt if it had a discount tag attached to it.

Has anyone tried the Romney link? I don't see the article.

In terms of buying, I brought some boots into be repaired today. It will cost me $60. The boots cost $120. The cobbler said that a higher quality boot would have done the same thing. It is just that I've had them for 5 years.

I'm going to do it bc else the boots will end up in the landfill, but shit $60! It makes me think of The Brave New Word--spending is better than mending...
