If there was a wind farm in that part of Washington, instead of losing power, they would have generated 1.21 JIGGAWATTS!!!!!
Ah, the Jefferson Jackson Dinner! Rubber chicken for 2500, plus another five thousand watching them eat.
It really is good, old-fashioned Democratic fun. I attended it many times when I was a young one.
This windstorm had damn well better kill LOTS of people in Seattle when it hits! I am sick of this wimpy "stormy weather". This is global warming and fuck, I want DISASTER to hit!!!
I heard recently that burying utilities in West Seattle would cost homeowners about $20,000 apiece. Ouch. I suppose by comparison, annual blackouts aren't so bad.
At the very least I hope the power gets knocked out so I can go the fuck home and crawl back into bed. Bank holidays piss me off.
I'm interested in the role of good speeches in this campaign. It seemed not too long ago that Clinton's speech was the clincher:

The article from the Des Moines Register was quite, quite right about the mistake of loading up on Iowa politician speeches. Of course I want to support my home-state democrats.. but when I caught a chunk of the dinner on CSPAN I was unfortunate enough to tune in just as Lt. Gov. Patty Judge was speaking (er... I'm so used to calling her Patty Sludge) and she is a poor, poor speaker. So boring! Chet was only slightly more entertaining.
