That liberal menace the Weekly Standard on last night’s GOP debate:

So, a good night for the lowest denominator, a bad night for the GOP. America got to see a vaguely threatening parade of gun fetishists, flat worlders, Mars Explorers, Confederate flag lovers and zombie-eyed-Bible-wavers as well as various one issue activists hammering their pet causes.

Yeah, some other Republicans were making similar complaints. Apparently they're all in deep denial about the fact that this really is the GOP in 2007.

the republicans are *so* much more entertaining than the democrats. it's a thrill to see how utterly, painfully out of touch they are with reality.

and after months and months of them trying to out-bigot one another, it will be even more entertaining to see the GOP nominee try and backpedal on all the ridiculous things he said before the primaries in order to appease "the base". tee-hee!
