movie critiques are taken seriously in the literary field?
isn't the cinema field what counts?
Whoa, spell check.
After that review of the review I had to go read the review. I thought the line with "cunt" in it was fantastically sharp, but then again I enjoy a cunt now and again... unlike the outraged "literary connoisseur" who doesn't know how to spell.
He sure does use a lot of exclamation points for someone with literary concerns!
Take that, Annie!
Well, I don't see what purpose there was to that cunt either. Mark Twain? What?
"What did her gown have to do with anything" is, I think, the entire point of Annie's excellent review. If her paragraph was a reading comprehension test, Charles W's essay would get a "see me."
"unarticulate?" That's not a misspelling, I fear. Ugh.
If The Stranger was devoting its energy and focus toward being "taken seriously in the literary field," I wouldn't read it.
R.I.P. Pauline Kael who - during her long, illustrious career at The New Yorker - was never vocabularily-challenged enough to use the word "cunt" or "buttfucking" to make her critical cinematic point.
Cate Blanch-ed, then shouted: "We command the Wagnerian wench be drawn, quartered and depenned."
i was unaware that an alternative weekly might be concerned about its reception in "the literary field." run-on sentences, verb agreement, improper or missing comma usage, missing apostrophes, excessive punctuation et al are all problems contained within Charles' diatribe.
nice job Chuck.
The Stranger taken seriously?? HA HA HA HA ROTFLMAO!!!!! LOL! LOL!!!
That is rich.
getting the word cunt into every other page is all that is left at the Strander
shit, cock and fuck are very commonplace
